Did I hear correctly that it cost €2500 to fill one of the pools? I heard that it had been drained and fixed but that it is still leaking.

How many more times will it need to be drained?

More to the point who's paying for this?

Don't tell me its coming out of commuity funds as the pools were handed over to us!

I did see a report saying (I don't have a copy) that it s because the pools were drained thats caused the leak problem. But then there the issue of the tiles falling off.

Maybe be should start charging for the use of the pool to those from the surrounding area

If it is true about the pool, there has to be liability / responsibility.

Who failed to do their job properly?

Who would accept reponsibility for a pool that is not fit for purpose?

From experience if someone has excepted something as being ok then its down to them to have the problem rectified. But if there is a guarantee from the builder that the work will be fix with some cost involved. There maybe some hope of getting it fix at cost, which maybe the case.

I have a property in El Pinet.  I have lived on the Urb - for 9 years now, and have some understanding of Iberdrola's charges for electricity.

My latest bill, in yesterday, is for 138,36euros for a 61 day period.  The basic unit cost of one unit of electricity has just gone up to 14.8729 eurocents.   My consumption was 526 units, so I am actually paying 136.36euros divided by 526   eurocents per unit.  That is 26.3 eurocents per unit.  (There is a contract charge, a surcharge, equipment rental charge all +18%vat each month)

On a 3.5 kW contract it would have been 21.7 eurocents per unit, on a 5.5 kW contract 23.3 eurocents per unit and on a 7.5 kW contract 24.8 eurocents per unit.

Until things are finalised in El Pinet and Iberdrola have installed the correct supply, the most we can expect is 3.5 kW.  The cost would realistically be somewhere in the 21 to 22 eurocent range per unit.

Rumour has it that Iberdrola are charging something in the region of 19eurocents per unit for our builder's supply.

I am writing this in the cause of realism.  If, when we are billed, the cost per unit is in that 21 to 22 eurocent region let us not hear an outcry of whingeing that a unit only costs about 15eurocents.  Realistically it is what we would pay in normal circumstances.

Forgot to mention - my bill is based on a 9.2kW contract.

You can get lots more info on Iberdrola's rates.  Log on to iberdrola's website.  Click on 'English' in top line.  Go to bottom of page and 'information about'.  Click on electricity.  In the search box type 'precios' and click on search.  Click on the first result.  Select 'English' again.  Here you will see that the power charge is 20.633129 euros per kW per year.

So on a 9.2 kW contract, the annual charge is 20.633129 x 9.2    ie 189.82 euros per year.  So my bill works out as follows:

Potencia contratada   20.633129 x 9.2 / 365 x61........................................................31.72 euros

Energia consumida  526kWh x 0.148729...................................................................78.23 euros

Impuesto sobre electricidad (surcharge)

(31.72 +78.23) x 0.04868 x 1.05113............................................................................5.62 euros

Alquiler equipos de medida (equip rental).....2 months @0.84 euros..................1.68 euros

All of this = 117.25 euro.

Add IVA (VAT) at 18% and you get a final total of 138.36 euros.

138.36 divided  by 526 gives a final cost of 26.3 eurocents a unit.

A final note!  Because the 'potencia contratada' is a fixed part of the bill, the final price we pay per unit is slightly more the less we use and slightly less the more we use.

Using a 5.5 kW supply as an example, my consumption works out at 23.3 eurocents per unit.    If I only used 326 units the final cost is 26.3 eurocents per unit and if used 726 units the final cost is 22 eurocents per unit.

I hope that this helps put things in perspective.

Here endeth the lesson - well it is Sunday!!

Hi Noelmac,

Thank you for your information, as Victor Meldrew said information is a bit lacking from other official site. Its good to have your input.

We will wait and see what margins they employ.

This last week there has been a discussion regarding fees with Johnathon ( he was a star in 'V' ). There are rumours (as always) but either the NoW or the Bar L....... might provide the truth.

18c to 24c / kwh for electricity. Both seem expensive compared with UK, but there was a breakdown by Noelmac earlier on this forum.      Water.. €1 or €2 for a cubic meter.

One of the pools could be expensive to fix. Who's responsibility is that?

If it is obvious the rip off is continuing. DONT PAY. (€20 +)

We all appear to becoming 'meter maids' . They seem to be spinning fast. Try the bypass method.

Victor,

Why do you always talk in riddles? Were you by any chance in Superman? On a more serious note I understand that all contracts have been signed and that work will re-commence in September on the  electricity and building. I know we have all heard this before but one of the Community reps has been to the Council and had sight of the actual contracts. Also I would advise anyone who has not yet been connected to the new meters to do so without delay.

Hope you are not asking people to break the law victor, by-passing the meters is illegal. The only by-pass is from your mouth to your backside! That is where all of your rubbish comes from.

Hi Mally

I would not worry about the meter, while its not in everything is FREE,

You have done your bit, I would now send them times and dates when your in

Who is going to pay for the electric for those without meters, I hope its not going to be us through higher standing charges and higher electric costs,

Talking of charges, has anyone heard what the new community charge is going to be.

I guess they (vivendoo) will want to recover the debt that is still outstanding?

If it is where I think it is there was always a camp site there al though it was never very big.  I have previously seen sometimes vehicles there.

i would have thought that after all the turmoil involved with closing the bigger place in the pines 2 years ago, opening another so close to the protected lakes would be difficult to get permission for. If they do though and its big enough, it will be very popular, and a communal disaster for El Pinet. Lets not get carried away though. The camper vans there now dont seem to cause a huge problem.

Seen the plans today . ( 2009 on them,  so not new)  It looks like there will be a car park of between 120 / 150 places on the land  to the left  and down of the present showhouse. There appears to be entry  and exit roads. The  camp site looks as if it will  have  250 / 280 plots.

Add a hotel.

Not many days left to object
