I saw this article on the Sur newspaper online. I am pretty sure Reserva del Higuerón is the same developer just above us, correct me if I am wrong. Does anyone know if this spa / hotel will be built above us.

FUENGIROLA
The goal is to build a complex that will offer every client a unique and luxurious experience and become the benchmark for health tourism on the Costa del Sol. The Hotel RH Plus will open its doors in early 2010 and the plans were unveiled last week at a presentation by the promoters, Reserva del Higuerón, attended by the Mayor, Esperanza Oña. The hotel, which is being built at a cost of 15 million euros, will be devoted to health and anti-stress therapies and will add a new dimension to the traditional tourist facilities in the town which have seen an expansion in recent years into new areas such as conferences and events.
The 137 rooms, including 60 duplex suites, will spread over four floors, individually styled to reflect global ideas on health and well being. The first floor takes it inspiration from the Indian concept, Ayurveda, and symbolises the earth. The second from BioYoga and the energising and regeneration of the body. The third floor represents the ancient form of meditation and relaxation, Vipassana, and on the final level the theme will be crystals and lightness. Here treatments will be offered in aromatherapy, floral essences and the revive some of the old remedies of Al Andalús. Javier Rodríguez, the Director General of the company said “We want to take our clients on a voyage from the physical to the emotional and to the spiritual”.
As well as the health and beauty treatments, the complex will offer conference and meeting facilities and areas for celebrations and weddings. There will be three swimming pools, one covered, a gymnasium and a sports club and tennis courts. A first class restaurant will serve healthy menus. “ The four star rating will be the icing on the cake for the resort” Rodríguez said.
The Mayor, Esperanza Oña, welcomed the project and gave her full support, saying, “Fuengirola has long been established as a place for people to come to enjoy the sun and sea. We hope that this new project will project a different image of the town and attract a new type of holidaymaker”. She also welcomed the fact that the project will create around 150 new jobs which will help to revitalise the local economy.

Regarding the opening dates of the swimming pools, has it already been agreed it will only be from June to September. If so, why were we not allowed to vote on this. Who made this decision. I always thought Spain had a warm climate. Surely it should be open from April to September / October. This is just another nail in the coffin for those of us looking to rent out our apartments. How do you explain to a possible client that although the weather will be 25 - 30 degrees celcius, the pools are closed. What do we do, tell them to swim in the lake at the bottom of the hill. We may as well just fill the things in with concrete now and grass over them. What a waste of a facility. In my case, I will paying for swimming pools I will get to use once a year, due to school holidays. This will affect all renters, including those that let friends and family stay in their apartments. There are school holidays in April for Easter and May for a week, there is no excuse for it to be closed during this time. Will the agreed dates be on the agenda for the AGM in November. If yes, you can put me down for a NO vote regarding the June to September dates.

I agree with Westort the pools should be open April to Oct what is the point paying community fees for the year when we can not use the pools What is the big deal leaving the lock off the gate the Gardner's are there anyway and being paid so no real extra cost..A big part of us buying in Spain was for was the pool for the children as in Ireland we don't have this.
Also I think there should be loungers around the pools for the community's comfort. When we go down to the pool I have to bring a buggy to carry all the stuff the sun beds being the most awkward. I was in another development in Elveria and they had loungers around the pool and it looked great and was so handy. No carrying the kitchen sink when going to the pool.
I also woul like these matters dealt with at the AGM

Of course these pools should be open! I don’t know who let that slip in the proposed rules, but it clearly makes no sense. The great thing is that we don’t need lifeguards so we can keep them open at very low costs for the community.

I am so pleased to hear that others feel that the pools should be open much longer and that these were only proposed rules. I definetly think they should be on the Agenda for the meeting. Clearly June to September is not long enough.

The rules were such a mess I would have had to delay the sending out of the papers if I had tried to correct the English and the meaning and as they all have to be agreed at the meeting anyway I thought it better not to delay the papers by trying to get them right at this stage.

Hi All
I have no idea what everyone is talking about when they say they have had papers sent out or received details about things, as I have not received anything. I only read about the swimming pool issue I brought up, on a post Max put on on 17th October 6.12pm regarding outstanding payments, there was some rules at the end of it saying, " 6.- With respect the Swimming pools
The schedule of opening of the swimming pool will be in summer ( juny- end of setember) With opening of 10. a.m- 10.p.m.
Just out of interest, how do I receive this information that is being sent out to people. I am sure I am not the only one. Can someone put the details on a post of who to contact ( email or phone number ) so that I can start receiving the relevant information.
Thanks
Westport

GRUPO INNOVACION COMUNIDADES Y SOCIEDADES [gics@hotmail.es]
There was a form sent out with the last meetings papers which gave us the opportunity to have papers delivered by e-mail if we filled it in and returned to GICS. I know of some people who filled it in and have still not been sent the papers by e-mail. If so you can e-mail them and try again - it might work!
Th papers that Max and I have posted are just copies of the e-mailed papers

Hi EOIN,
OCI (ONDA CERO INTERNATIONAL) - 101.6FM & 98.4 FM
Onda Cero is one of Spain’s most well known national networks and Onda Cero International is its English language network broadcasting to the provinces of Málaga, Cádiz and Granada as well as on the Costa Blanca. Known as OCI, this station provides a friendly, down-to-earth connection to all things Spanish with local, regional and national Spanish news throughout the day, as well as BBC connections. At Onda Cero listeners wake up with Ian Jacks and his very popular breakfast show which includes humour and quizzes, contests and the best music. Spanish Matters follows with Adrian Allen who delves deeper into Spanish contemporary issues and continues with Brenda Padilla’s Across the Coast, the mid-day magazine programme including interviews with doctors, psychologists, experts on Internet and technology, local artists, specialists in Mediterranean gardening and plenty of information regarding events across the province of Málaga.
OCI broadcasts 24 hours a day to the Costa del Sol on 101.6 F.M. (101.8 F.M. in Marbella) and on the Costa Blanca via 94.6 FM.

Hi Bevron, the taxis never actually stopped it just looked a bit dodgy for a while. They are still coming up but have slowly increaseed the prices from the centre from 10 Euros to 14 because of the condition of the road. Martin

Some taxi drivers have refused to drive up. Many have only driven up after complaining bitterly first. Now that Max has opened the manhole cover they at least cannot refuse because of the "lake" and hopefully your parents age will mean they will not have any problems

Hi Calv
When you say the price from the centre has gone up, where do you mean by " centre ". Every time I get a taxi its a different price. Can someone put up some prices from Los Boliches & Fuengirola. Does the price go up for night time. I bet if you phoned them up to pick you up at Don Juan to go to the airport, they would be able to drive up the hill :-)

Yes I agree Westport mention the airport and they will be here everytime (about 50 Euros) I call the centre El puerto Hotel, we have had a taxi most Saturday nights for the last year and the price has crept up as the drivers talk to each other about the road condition. Every driver has a book with the prices in, and if you ask them they should show the price but they are always very reluctant to do this. Last Saturday for example the driver let it slip that this was his first weekend as a driver, we came from the centre, with a stop off at Torreblanca then here to Don Juan at one in the morning and it cost Eleven Euros.
