I get a taxi every weekend from the 'fish alley' area, and back to Don Juan and it is always 14 Euros. It should only be 10 Euros but with the state of our road they stuck together and made it 14. If you are ever in doubt about a price of a taxi ask them to show you the price in the book.

Can anyone tell me which is the nearest library to DJ below. They have free internet in these libraries, and you don't need to be a member, just bring I.D.
Municipal Libraries in town:
· Biblioteca Municipal de Fuengirola, calle Victoria,
1
· Biblioteca Municipal Lope de Vega, calle
Mallorca, 14 A
· Biblioteca Municipal de Los Boliches, calle Fruta,
s/n (1ª planta de la Tenencia de Alcaldía de Los
Boliches) ¨

@t Irene:
Fish alley is a term used by the english to describe a small area full of mostly tourist restaurants and bars. The main 'fish alley' runs parallel to the boulevard to the seaside of the main square Plaza de la Constitución. Officially it's called Calle Moncayo. Very busy in the summer!
@ Westport:
The Los Boliches library is closest to DJ. I'm not sure where it's located now. Presumably it moved to the Los Boliches market.

There is also a nice library in Arroyo de la Miel in the corner of Paloma Park. They have a good english section staffed on a voluntary basis by very nice "old dears"

It seems there may be some good news for all at DJ. This morning I saw workmen delivering a whole lot of sand to the rail way road. When I came back later in the afternoon the sand was spread from beneath the bridge all the way to the entrance to DJ laid out in the shape of a road. Are we getting a proper road? It certainly looks that way! Will try and take a photo later today and put it here on EOS.

Hi Irene & RG
Irene, I wouldn't get our hopes up too much yet. Until we see the tarmac being laid, I believe nothing anymore. Having said that, I did hear a whisper the road would be done in October, but there is an October every year for the next 100+ years.
RG; maybe it is an artificial beach that they are putting in, so that all the cars that park along the access road no longer need to walk down to the seafront :-) Everyone take a look at the photos that I have just downloaded to see how bad it has got. Some are even parking up in the bays on our hill outside the garages of DJ11. Click on the photos to get a clearer picture.
RG; Can you keep us updated with photos of any progress.

Just wait till the promenade is developed - the intention of the government is to make it only for pedestrians without any car parking. The town hall is disputing this and is one of the reasons for the delay in the work starting. If they want the development to goahead they may have to agree. This was published in the Torreblanca newsheet in July.

Having been away from DJ for the last few days, we were surprised to find a 'road' on our return - it is new, white and flat. Being a bit of a cynic, I did wonder if Snr Juan has laid it down to make it easier for his prospective buyers of DJ III.
Sadly, still no tarmac at the time of writing.

I think you're pretty close to the truth there Jenx but "Snr Juan" doesn't do ths type of thing even for potential clients. It is more likely done as part of the deal with the Town Hall to get the Phase 3 licence.

The new 'road' is still bumpy and twice as dusty. Instead of employing someone with a proper roller to flatten the stones it was a JCB just spreading it out. The result looks better but surface-wise not a lot of change. You still need to carry your bags if they have wheels. A heavy rain shower and it will be a terrible mess. I agree that it's to make it look better to try and sell some of the DJ111 apartments. A couple of seats half way up the hill would be good too!
Should we put up a sign 'Parking 10€ per day'? Might raise some funds for the community.
