Hello
Can anyone help here?
Our current guests tell me that the pool in Phase 1 is locked, is this the case and if so, how can they get it unlocked or where could we get a key for them?
Thanks
Paul.

I sent you an e-mail - hopefully you now know what to do about the key.
I don't think your query is related to this but the pool between blocks 8 & 10 has been closed today due to a breakdown of the filter pump. Hopefully the parts will arrive and we'll get it back up and running tomorrow.

There have been a lot of questions regarding "registre on the PADRDON". I received new information from Mijas Town Hall regarding removal of old registred people. I count the same procedure would apply to Fuengirola. So for those who are not registred or have an old registration pay attention.
To stay registred in Fuengirola I have been informd to renew registration every second year.
Dear neighbour :
The National Office of Stadistics has informed the Mijas Town Hall that 14.000 inhabitants may be removed from the "padrón" (official list of inhabitants) because no modificatio ns have been made by them in the past 5 years. Those who are not in the padrón are not considered inhabitants of Mijas and as such, will not be able to receive any of the benefits offered, for example; reduction on the rates (IBI), social help etc... This will also harm the Town Hall, as the Central Government of Spain will provi de less money, less policemen, less public transport and less doctors, etc to the Town.
The list of persons arranged in alphabetical order can be viewed on www.mijas.es. If your name is on this list please come to Mijas Town Hall (either to Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas or La Cala) in order to update your registration (empadronamiento) BEFORE 31ST OCTOBER 2012. You only need to take your passport and NIE number. This is free of charge and will only take you a few minutes. If you have any doubts, you can contact the Mijas Foreigner's Department on 952 58 90 10 or via email frd@mijas.es You can also take this opportunity to check your address and leave your telephone and email.
The registration in the padrón (empadronamiento) has NOTHING TO DO with your fiscal residence, meaning that a citizen can be an inhabitant of Mijas and remain a tax resident abroad. We insist on the importance of registering and urge everyone to be included on the padron.
Kind Regards

Hi Gordon,
While the benefits and implications of registering are as described in the message from Mijas Town Hall I think what is required to register may have changed in Fuengirola at least.
Following what Corrie had reported on this forum we went to the 4th Floor of the TH in May and were told we now need a Residencia card to register on the Padron. At that time Residencia cards were relatively easy to obtain and we got them from the National Police Station. Based on Information posted on the general boards of this forum you now need to provide proof of income as well as proof of residence to obtain them.
Can anyone else shed any light on this?

I have no more information on this than posted by Mjjas and my own experience.
Is it possible there is some misunderstanding at the admin at TH.
To me it does not sounds right that it should be a difference between Mijas and Fuengirola
Eventually it could be cleared by contacting the person responsible:
- Dirección: Pza. De España, 1. Ayuntamiento de Fuengirola. 4ª planta.
- Teléfono: 952 58 94 40
-
- Correo Electrónico: foreignresidents@fuengirola.org
- Accesos: Junto a la Oficina Técnica y Concejalía de Urbanismo.
- Horario: Lu-Vi 09:00 - 14:00.
- Responsable: Dª. Katja Westerdahl.

It does seem that people attending Fuengirola Foreign Residents Dept. are getting differing messages on the Padron renewal procedure.
After David posted info regarding obtaining the residency certificate from the Police station in order to complete renewal on the Padron, I attended the Town Hall to "test the waters" so to speak.
I simply stated in Spanish that I wanted to renew my Padron registration, my passport was asked for, there was some input on the computer and I was told it was now renewed for a further 2 years......no mention of obtaining said residency certificate at all.
Was it luck or is there some other factor we are unaware of?

Best hospital at the Costa del Sol is Santa Ana in Torremolinos. Very advanced equipment, friendly staff, human size and best of all some highly respected specialists who are known all over Europe. Unfortunately I have ample experience with this hospital having stayed there for a few weeks in total over a series of serious issues.
Have never seen this quality of equipment and expertise of specialists before and I used to go to Academic hospitals in the Netherland which have some international fame.

A lady was violently mugged in broad daylight at Carvajal station today by a youth. He was on the platform from where he watched her park her car, and walked down the stairs to attack her. There were other people on the platform who ran to her aid and he ran off down the steps.
I am not writing this to scare people but we all need to be aware that there are desparate people about, be vigilant and don't take unneccesary risks.

We went to the TH this morning and renewed our registration on the padron. The renewal process as Gericom says can be completed in the Foreign Residents office and was straightforward. While we were there we also registered our adult son for the 1st time. This was more complicated and was done in the Estadisitcas (something like that) Office which is beside the Cash office on the ground floor. We needed his European Citizens Card which we had obtained in May and had to buy a 2.50€ registration stamp. We now have a nice certificate stating that he is a citizen of Fuengirola which I guess will may be useful if we ever need to access services in the future - although I don't actually know what services there are.

Hi David,
Good for you, that you succeeded again at the Townhall.
We went 3 times to the 4rth floor and they always asked us, if we were resident in Fuengirola.
We said we owe an apartment, but she said we need to live there more than 183 days a year before we can enter the Padron and be a resident.
We will try again in October, don't understand why one person is allowed and another not??
Nice holidays,
Corrie

I read in the Sur that the Paseo at Carvajal is to be completed by 100% private investment and that two companies are being considered.
How does that work then?
What's in it for the private companies. do they do the work in exchange for strategically placed patches of development land?
Do they get to police pay and display parking and take all the proceeds?
Whatever it is, I hope it's not a revival of the ridiculous Dubai style sea based Auditorium etc that was once mooted and displayed on the walls of the Town Hall as the next "big thing"!
Can anyone shed any light?

Hi SRS,
From what I see on the ground , the DJ community is still there and working very well together. I think that no one knows much about the redevelopment of the paseo so thats why there are no comments on it. I agree from my experience living in Dubai that we would not want private companies taking over the project as they will get their profit out one way or another.... Personally I would prefer it to stay as it is and just have upgrades on the roads, pavements and beach walls, as Los Bolitches etc...

Cheers Andy
I thought all that was going to happen (if it ever did) was a Los Boliches style up grade. The sea island idea was supposed to be a separate privately funded thing. I just suppose we will have to wait and see.
I'm sure that there is a thriving community at DJ but maybe folk don't bother using this site anymore. They might be fed up of the barnying!
Regards
