I like Diamond Geezer Harry and the way his teams play football. I suspect that Spurs have just commited soccer suicide both in terms of future achievement and top player retention, I hope I am wrong but I can see a slide down the table looming large in that part of north London.

Dakey, I hope your wrong. But new manager is going to have it tough after what Harry has done...and small fact that Chelsea are spending big and will have added some world class players.  Arsenal will probably have to open their chequebook as well.  Liverpool will be looking to get back into the mix.

I can't see Levy giving funds out unless it's already come in and of course we now have to wait for a new manager.  Maybe we could sell 4 players to get one but our squad is weak front and back.  If we don't get quality additions to an injury prone back contingent and add to Defoe up front (not even sure Saha is still on the books) we'd stuggle even if the rest of the squads didn't improve.

If Spuds do implode then it will help manure in their quest for 4th spot next season

Shampers,

last year was not the first time that a small club has bought the title with unearned income from a rich benefactor, remember Blackburn and more recently Chelsea. It probably wont be the last time either, but one thing is as nailed on as night following day.... Utd ALWAYS respond, readjust and claim our title back. ALWAYS! The fact that an even smaller less supported club than the previously mentioned other two has won it would logically suggest to me that this time will be a bit easier than previous occasions to bring it home.

Thought I'd amuse everyone with your summer break ramblings of 12 months ago Dakey lad  , and there was 10 more months of this to come during the season!

''So the summary is that while we are light years ahead in England we still have a bit to do to be the best in europe''

''George, No surprise there then, you wouldnt recognise a CL final if it smacked you in the face''

''I said I like a bet, but I am not stupid, I make easy money backing Utd against the likes of Chelsea and City''

''I will also admit as well that I expect it to be tight next year so instead of giving my mate the rest of the premier league teams, they are going to have to choose one team to back for the 50 quid, but I still expect to clean up again''

''I wonder why they all want to join us in preference to anybody else? It cant be the money as we are skint, are we not? It must be the endless supply of silverware!''

''We can quite rightly celebrate the 19th title won with the best home record ever and know that it is something our detractors will never come close to''

''it was nice to hear from Nasri that money does not matter to him, its winning trophies that is his main driver. Put away the cheque book then Dave, because if he is true to his word then a straight fight between us has only got one outcome''

''For the time being lets just laugh at the usual comments at this time of the year like, "Utds time is up" or "you are buying crap players" or "we are behind you...tick tock" and just await the start of the campaign with renewed optimism and then we will see what transpires as usual''

''watch this space for a mega transfer to cement our position at the top with the youngest squad in the league. No light at the end of the tunnel then for anyone for years to come''

''you cant allow the bitters to steal Nasri and Clichy from you as they would then have a good chance of also pipping you for 4th spot next season''

''As the whinger prepares to wing it over the Atlantic, we are told that his replacement is going to be Aguero. Now, as with Clichy and Savic, the pertinent and relevent question must be..... who the hell is he? I am sure however that you are going to explain to us exactly why he is world class. I look forward to that assessment.''

''Chaddy, Come back when you actually win something tangible mate and i dont mean the dublin Cup! I have got a feeling that we will be waiting a long while yet for anything else''

''Dont really pay that much attention to what other teams are doing to catch up. Its just so amusing to watch the goings on at Eastlands that I would liken it to the latest 160 million pound euro lottery winners dabbling in the stock market with their winnings, Yes they have got the money, but havent a clue what they are doing with it. As long as we invest wisely in good young players to bolster our squad then we are .going to stay ahead of the pack and no amount of panic, manic buying is going to alter that''

''I know, best to wait for the action to start so we can all sit back and watch it unravel in the most amusing manner, then next close season when they have failed again watch them repeat the sad sorry process all over again.''

''it will be the same old same old again after Xmas so enjoy your little happy time in the sun, You all know it is not going to last long''

''Predictions are easy, Utd to retain the league and win the CL. Utds' reserves to win the Carling and FA cups and our youth team to retain the youth cup. Should be some interesting battles for the minor places though''

And the one you got right ................

''time to get behind Lancs as they try to win the cricket league for the first time since god knows when, in fact its a common thread in Manchester as to who will win their respective league first, City or Lancashire. My moneys on the cricketers''

Dave,

Brilliant, you must have a sad little life though saving my contributions although funnily enough you are not my only bluenose chum who has done that! Reading them again, if I reproduced them word for word every year, then 3 or 4 times out of 5 I would be correct.

One thing did strike me though, I must have been under the weather a bit as I have not posted nearly enough, I will have to step it up a bit next season!

Cheers, Dakey

Up sharpish today as the lad was off to Cyprus early doors, so inbetween the ironing, and taking his room to pieces to do the annual defumigation i just thought i'd check out your predictions this time last year, what i found was that 19x out of 20 you were wrong, albeit the Lancs/City one was spot on, the only other one not mentioned was the re-forming of The Stone Roses which was only supposed to happen after Ciddy won the Champs League ......... maybe they've decided it's inevitable so lets make our money a year early

That's because Rooney still has so much in the tank after letting us all down so badly. Thinking about it I don't actually think he's good enough to oust welbeck or Carroll after their performances on Friday.

Bench him to start and bring him on only if the Ox or Walcott have not made a breakthrough yet!!!!

He may have scored but once again he looked fat, slow and rubbish in an England shirt, the Rooney of a few years ago would have accelerated onto that ball in the 2nd half and left the defender for dead, he's going the same way as Owen in my opinion

Dave,

Typical blue shite nonsense, Rooney, despite being not match fit produced a lung busting run on the break from our own box to get on the end of Gerrards brilliant work and the slo mo clearly shows the defender pulling him down by the shirt. It was a stonewall penalty and other forwards that will remain nameless would have gone down like a sack of the proverbial. Get your blue tinted glasses off for a minute and accept that we are far more dangerous with him in side than not and it will get better as he gets fitter. just a final point.... please explain the continual selection of Milner to me as I am missing it big style, both the Arsenal lads would be a much better option for me and dont dare mention 'hard work', on the money they are paid that is a prerequisite!

Dakey mate I agree Milner is a mystery to me. In first game he worked hard but still managed to play a beautiful through ball (awful backpass) for Nasri who nearly scored. His end product is awful so I guess Roy must think he offers more defensively then the gooner boys.

Last night though to be fair the Ox had wonderful oppotunity to play Walcott in at the end which would given us a bit more breathing space but he dwelt to long on it.

Still topping the group is a genuine surprise to me.
