Just been browsing the morning news and even I had to laugh at this one from, obviously, a sad ABU
" I cant wait to see the return of the Magician at O/T tonight.....Rooney is that good he can disappear for the full 90 minutes!"

George,
For once you have posted something I almost agree with. If you had just added the three little letters N O N in front of the word sense the post would have been spot on! How a team who have not been in the top three positions in their own domestic league for two years be top of any credible ranking table on the basis I would presume of a couple of flukey cup wins is beyond the thinking of most reasonable observers. It is universally accepted that a teams league form is the accurate barometer so on that basis a team that has not finished outside the top two for god knows how long and even the bitters who have been in the top two now for three years would be miles ahead of your sorry concoction of mercenaries by any reasonable measurement system.
I am not particularly fond of Chelsea as you have probably gathered, but we are going to do you a massive favour this coming weekend. When we despatch your lot to the dustbin of this seasons FA cup hopefulls, your russian nutter will have to send Rafa on his bike a few months early and you can start your search for a new manager sooner than expected. No need to thank us though, all part of the service.

Well, half time and I have bitten my nails down to the wrists! The great man has took a massive gamble leaving Rooney on the bench, I just hope it pays off. Wellbeck has plenty of positive things about his game but finishing is certainly not one of them and it is starting to get embarrasing. have to go now in case someone nicks my seat in the rec room.

I was prepared for an epic second half with both teams having a chance, but it doesnt matter what players you leave out or what tactics you use, you just cannot legislate for disgraceful decisions by pig thick officials and there is absolutely nothing that can be done about them. I dont think anyone of the billions watching thought he would produce a red card for that and In one insane moment he single handedly ended our CL campaign. Was Nanis foot high? yes. Was he looking at the ball or player? his eyes never left the ball and if that is a sending off then I have been watching the wrong game all these years. That nonsense is hard to take, but take it we will and concentrate on whats left for us, no point looking back in anger, its done.
I am going to bed

At last justice prevails and the well of luck the Vermin have had over the years has run dry! The 1st part of my prediction has proved accurate, come on Chelsea! No doubt they will be on soon saying they were cheated or bent ref or kung fu is allowed in football Lmfao

Chaddy,
I dont remember you predicting that Utd would be leading and coasting before being robbed blind! I must have missed that post.
Chelsea have no chance of a repeat as we will have a good old fashioned english ref who realises that you just dont give decisions like that at the theatre!

You now know what we felt like when RVP was sent off literally for F A at the nou camp when we were winning. That was far more ludicrous a sending off than tonight's clumsy and stupid challenge from Nani. Everybody knows what the refs are like in Europe and your gonna have to get over it. Better than Fergie is as he is being a cry baby and phelan saying that he's distraught is making me laugh out loud!!

Chaddy,
I woke up this morning with a knowing certainty that you and probably a few others in self imposed exile would suddenly find their voice and gloat, I can take that, it is football banter that we all use and love, but like Fergie I am more incensed now than when it happened at the sheer injustice of it. It has convinced me that match fixing through bent officials is still rife in the game as there is no other logical way to look at that decision and yes Jay, you were probably a victim of it as well with RVP. Nani was sent off for serious foul play and I have watched it at least 10 times now and although his boot was high his sole intention and focus was on getting a toe on the ball to control it, the Real player came up on his blind side and got caught accidentally, simple as that. To be controling a two legged tie against top opposition after 155 minutes and get it snatched away by an official in that manner is infuriating to say the least.
Finally, on the subject of serious foul play. The tie was played in a great spirit by both clubs with none of the rolling around usually accompanying such a game but the one incident of serious foul play that warranted a sending off was not Nanis but a few minutes before on Vidic by the keeper. We all know that keepers can use their hands as an added advantage, but where in the rules does it say they can make a fist with both hands mistime their attempt at the ball and punch a player directly in the head with both fists rendering him prostrate on the floor after legitimately winning a header? That is what happened to Vidic in the penalty area in front of the ref and that is a penalty and a sending off for serious foul play as that was 10 times more reckless and dangerous than anything Nani had perpetrated.
Anyway, I am now going to weather the inane comments from bitter people with nothing else to play for and concentrate on the upcoming games...... gloat away fellas!

I remember webb being mom in the 3-3 draw at the bridge last year with an outstanding performance in a red shirt.didnt he score as well as give the 2 pens. im sure he did!

Two great clubs, two great sides played a superb tie for 1 and 2/3 games. Ruined by another 'it's all about me' referee. We were magnificent and even improved as we threw everything at them with 10 men. Both teams conducted themselves superbly with the odd very rare exception and credit to Madrid who capitalised on their good fortune clinically - a magnificent goal from Modric. Sadly we can add it to the long list of poor decisions given against English clubs and the national side - we don't seem to see them go our way very often do we? At the time of the sending off we were in control against a very good side and were heroic after that. We can be incredibly proud of the club. Interestingly, watch the game again and you'll see a high challenge in the first half where studs connected with a players waist but no card at all was given. The difference?
Good luck to Real and Ronaldo in the rest of the competition - they too conducted themselves superbly.
All behind us now and we can look forward to another big game on Sunday. The return of ranting Rafa.

Yes Kev,
I had forgotten about that deliberately high studs up lunge into Evras upper thigh area, so that along with the keepers GBH to Vidics head with both clenched fists makes it even more likely that the ref had taken a bung. I made a genuine point after the milan v barca game about refs from little known federations like Scotland etc getting high profile games that are beyond their capabilities and this is another such case. The knee jerk reaction is to say to eufa "stuff your bent competition", but by the time next season comes around we will all compete again with renewed optimism that we can achieve the holy grail given a level playing field. Whatever the competition though, we will all still be subjected to the whims of these inept officials and that is something that will never ever change.

The poor decision the ref made was to disallow the perfectly good goal that Madrid scored after Ramos won the ball whilst totally looking at the ball!
He made up for it with his brave decision to send off that cheating clown with his studs higher than Cantonas against an innocent supporter!
Old Bacon Face didnt even have the professionalism to speak to the media after the game, that is the measure of the man right there.. BAD LOSER!!!
Mourinho and that other scots clown at Everton defending the indefensable?? Must be a vacancy on the horizon eh? Hopefully this will push Bacon Chops Taggart over the edge and out of the game!!
