Classy response from Utd at the Emirates.
The FA will have to take action against Balotelli with all the fuss caused. Webb might be blind (remember he missed a Kung Fu kick by De Jong in the WCF - wait a minute isn't he a City player too?) but the rest of the country isn't. Lescott might be lucky the fuss overshadows his forearm smash. City should have been down to nine. Spurs played well and deserved something - still don't think they're out of it.
A lot of hard tests to come for all three teams.

Dave,
Should have known there would be no contrition from you. I should have realised that given the lifetime of mind numbing emptiness you have endured following your beloved blues, then Mancini could have played Gary Glitter and Peter Sutcliffe upfront and as long as they were scoring goals they would have your wholehearted support!

Well done Dakey and Kev thought it could of quite easily been draw. Utd'sfor the first half and The gooners for the second and all be it for a RVP missed sitter a draw would have been accepted. The point is after a brilliant set of results we yet again failed to make up ground that was available to us. Respect is due to UTD because somehow they managed to win yet again with what is in my opinion the worst utd team that I have seen down here for longer than I care to remember. But winning is a culture and it's something that we are seriously lacking right now. It worries me how we managed to perform like that against you and that worry was echoed to tune of about 57k. There's a lack of heart and desire and it needs sorting but with absolutely no sign of any spending in this window it looks bleak!! Was in the Pub for the city V sp*rs game and did we laugh! A missed sitter from Defoe and blatant stamp on Parker from the player who eventually scores the penalty to win the game from a gooners point of view was delightful. However when I really think about it I feel sick. Football is still heading to hell. Have a great week Jay ;-I

Jay,
You may have a point, but the same can be said about the Arsenal team. I dont think I have seen a worse Arsenal team than this one in the last 20 years. Both teams have suffered badly with injuries this season, but the difference is that we continually shrug them off and get results. Time will tell if we have enough to edge in front of the bitters but one thing is certain mate, we will give it a damn good go.
I have to say a big thank you to Arsen, just when you were getting up a head of steam and the young buck Chamberlain was causing problems with his direct runs, the loony Frenchman takes him off for the ineffectual Arshavin who went on to lose Valencia for the winner. On the subject of RVPs' uncharacteristic miss, if young Wellbecks finishing had matched his general play we would have been out of sight.

Jay,
Think Harry would be an almighty loss to spurs. He's obviously a people person and has had a great impact on the spurs squad. Lets face it these managers have several coaches to take care of the technical side. I hope he stays at Spurs but then again I wouldn't be too worried if England lost all their games!!
On the games. I thought there was a blatant block on VDV in the box by I think Lescott but as no replays were shown I couldn't confirm this. But he did make an obvious move later towards Kaboul with his forearm and this wasn't protecting himself going for a header or anything Then again I was willing tyo give him the benefit of the doubt as slow motion replays can give a false impression of what actually happened in real time.
But Balotelli was a definite red. Was watching with a Pool supporter who said "but he didn't see him". Then the replay showed the backward stamp as he fell forwards and my mate changed his tune and said he should have walked. It was disgusting. The tackle on him wasn't bad, he had already caught Scotty in the head with his leg (which I assumed was by mistake) but to then stamp back on a player lying on the ground....Mancini - sore throat or unwilling to publicily defend him. And then I saw he was interviewed...please don't tell me he was given man of the match. That would just complete the picture of football as a game where sportsmanship and integrity no longer play a part.
Let me say the last goal it was a penalty. We'll live with the loss and get on with it. We've had a couple of refereeing setbacks but you have to get over these. The bonus was we were 2-0 down and came back. Defoe did all he could...not his fault he's a short f*ck!! We were unlucky and hopefully in the not so distant future we'll rob someone of a result the same way (without the stamping). We showed what we can do and we're no longer the easy beats away from home!! The goal is now 3rd and the CL.

Shane Magnanimous in defeat my friend. Could not put it better but 3rd and a CL Place is a worthy target and you're well worth it to date. I feel the gooners will be playing on spursday nights next season like Citeh and utd are this! Dakey Again I concur as did 57k I've never ever heard such booing on a substitution decision. It's all Conjecture but Arsenal could of got a lot more out of the game with the OX on the pitch. Bed time now too many beers!!! :-( Jay

Why is it always me!!!
Balotelli in the headlines again!!
I certainly do not condone stamping or any attempt to hurt another proffesional in the game! Roy Keane has long gone and he was the master at it.
However I think everyone is giving Balotelli far to much credit - if you watch it in real time, do we honestly think that in 0.1 of a second whilst in mid air he has decided and implemented a stamp to hurt Scott Parker, believe me he is not clever enough and whilst opinion is divided there will only be one person who knows if there was any intent. If we play the game retrospectively with TV replays and football pundits/media trying to justify media space,, no team will finish a game with more than 8 men. I also understand there is a witch hunt for Lescott!! Have any of these people ever played football?? Then again if Kompany's card was Red then I suppose the next step will be taking care not to get sent off if you squeeze too tight in the pre match handshake!
After that Tottenham were distinctly average with no shots at goal in the first half and were well out of the game until we gifted Defo's goal - credit to G Bale's strike and we again nearly gifted a winner but the results show that City are still 3 points clear and an interesting next 6 league games coming up!
Enjoy all

Tony,
Agree on Lescott...he may have caught Kaboul out of the corner of his eye and put his arm up anticipating a collision. They are both big units and it could have been instinctive.
Unfortunately I also think Balotellis was instinctive too...but in a totally different way. I don't think he thought about it and decided to implement a stamp. I think its in his make-up and he'll do plenty more things like this in the future. He's an amazingly gifted player but he's reckless and one day he'll really hurt someone.
I think Defoe's goal was lucky but so was Lescotts. Silvas pass was perfect for your first goal and Bales finish was top class. First half was not great but it certainly came alive in the 2nd. Some of the passing and play was fantastic by both teams...but both teams finishing wasn't up to their usual standard. I think Spurs deserved a point but not getting it shouldn't have a big impact on our season.

Fellas,
I kind of expected the blue half would try to defend the lunatic and Tony has not disappointed me on that score. On the comparison with Roy Keane, Keano would snap you in half and put in some dangerous tackles but he would always front you up head on and you knew what was coming. Stamping on someones head while they are lay on the floor has to come from being inherently a coward and Keane is certainly not that.
I can understand with only one go at it and in real time and also partly looking away how Webb has not seen it for what it is, but the Video evidence is irrefuteable and the FA must act against certainly Ballotelli and probably Lescott. I know it is very difficult for refs' to spot everything but lets remember that Ben Thatchers almost fatal assault on Mendes was deemed as a referee speak 'coming together' by that referee and only when he had seen it in all its glory later did he realise the seriousness of the challenge. In my humble opinion stamping on someones head deliberately is twice as serious as Thatchers offence and the FA should view it and judge it as such.
Shane, you are being much too magnanimous with them and if it were me I would be calling for a jail sentence and it would be justified!!!

Dakey,
I think you are forgetting Keane putting an end to Alfie Harland!! - If you call Keane fronting it up because he admitted to trying to hurt him as he did then shame on you.
As for a jail sentance, you are clearly worried about the significant and real threat to your past dominance and clutching at anything you can get! Good luck, I am sure the media frenzy will make the men behind desks who have never played the game respond in their usual inconsistent fashion.
Balotelli is a loose cannon but as mentioned when in real time, could he really have had the intent that everyone is alledging. If so there is a good argument for changing the stopping distances on the driving test!!

Tony,
Smoke and daggers mate you are just throwing up a smokescreen hoping it will go away. The fact is we have just witnessed the worst atrocity seen on an English football field since the notorious Ben Thatcher assault all those years ago.... and he was a bitters player too! Is there something in the fabric of your club that compels your players to do such things and for the supporters to condone them in their desperation to win things?
If Roy Keanes only claim to fame ( and it certainly is not that) is saving the great british public from witnessing Alfie Harland stumble around a football pitch then people have been cited in the new year honours list for a lot less.

Dakey,
Change the rose tinted specs - Keane's actions are ok even though he admitted intent to hurt!!! - I suppose Cantona's kung fu kick was ok also - seems that if they wear a Utd shirt they are above the law and you will defend them to the hilt!
Your comment about Keane doing the public a service shows you are as bad as he was and as such are definately not qualified to put in any constructive comments
Ben Thatcher was conclusive and it was nasty and deserved punishment - If you can say Balotelli's trial by slow mo, media witchunt is fair and conclusive there is a severe problem with the game just because some people think there was intent. He is obviously very clever to react in that way, whilst in mid air, in split second timing - oh and with eyes in the back of his head!

Tony,
We can bat this around all day, everyone who has witnessed the incident almost without exception has condemded it and I dont condone bad challenges by anyone, Cantona got an eight month ban for his misdemeanor and Keano has been punished for all of his and that is how it should be. I made my comment about Harland tongue in cheek, because you steadfastly refuse to accept your players guilt. IT WAS A DELIBERATE COWARDLY STAMP! now accept the justifeid punishment that will be coming his way, just as I will accept it if the FA are true to form and bury their heads in the sand. Now get over it and move on.

Sorry Citeh Boys
I agree with Dakey that it was totally deliberate. I dont know if any of you have played the game at any level but I assume most of you did and if you did, you know full well that's there's putting your foot down to regain your balance and there's putting your foot down in the way Ballotelli did. I wonder if any of you can honestly step back for a minute and allow yourselves to see it for what is was. If I was still playing and someone attempted to do that to me I would feel extremely strongly about it make no mistake. I wonder how you would feel.
I personally would be horrified if it was an Arsenal player who carried out that attack on Parker and would be happy with whatever punishment was handed out to him.
I'm sure it's just coincidence but the Thatcher attack and the Adepaymore stamp on RVP the season before last are very unfortunate events and City have never had that sort of reputation in the past.
Cheers
Jay

Jay,
Cant speak for the rest of them but Dave has certainly never pulled on a pair of boots, his sporting prowess is confined to a spot of haggis throwing, swinging at elusive golf balls and generally missing and a dabble at sumo wrestling. Chaddy comes from an area where the men wear platform shoes so I doubt he would know how to lace a pair of boots either.
" After refferee Howard Webb confirmed that had he seen the incident then he would have certainly sent Balotelli from the field of play, the FA have charged Balotelli with violent conduct"
THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING!

....and let's face it - if the FA could have found a way out of it they would but the evidence is undeniable, the universal outcry deafening. To stick together and defend the unit is commendable to a point but City fans on here seem to have lost the plot and their desire to win the title at any costs is looking very sad. Have some dignity guys and remember its a game. Some Italian lunatic consistently acting and speaking like he's above the law is pathetic and he should get kicked out of the game for a long time. He will not learn because he's as thick as pig****. Sadly, there is no way that Spurs can benefit from aftermatch action so I guess he'll still be laughing about it. In the good old days Norman Hunter, Tommy Smith or Nobby would have put him right!
