Jay - from wikopedia just for you
Chelsea's highest home attendance is 82,905 for a First Division match against Arsenal on 12 October 1935. However, an estimated crowd of over 100,000 attended a friendly match against Soviet team Dynamo Moscow on 13 November 1945.
what are arsenals top 2 attendance home records?
btw you never told me if i can have your silver polish as you wont be needing any for a few more years if arsene keeps pocketing his dividends and not splashing the cash! Dont you just love the french!

Dave,
these two make our rivalry seem friendly, I didnt realise there was so much bitterness in the capital city, I thought that was reserved for you blues before last seasons fluke. I have to say though, I concur with almost everything Jay has to say on the subject, but the difference between us is that we will respond next season and win it back, I am not sure that the gunners will be able to. Just a last point on the England team, with that bunch of players and manager to not be actually beaten on the field of play was a massive over achievement so I cannot be too glum about the outcome. What I will say is that John Terrys last ditch tackles and blocks were magnificent.... It dosent matter that the forwards were allowed to go past him at will in the first place, he got back in the nick of time. Someone needs to explain to him that playing the offside trap on his own just doesnt work. If Balotelli was half as good as he thinks he is he would have come off with 4 or 5 goals. Now we move on to the good bit, It will be interesting to see the managers explanation for leaving a coloured footballer at home when Terry gets found guilty of racial abuse, now that should be good.

Well Gents, im now back from Ukraine and what can I say, " gutted isnt a strong enough word", feel utterly depressed, got no issues with going out on pens as we didnt deserve to take it that far but just feel let down yet again by substandard performances by majority of the side, only highlights being Gerrard (Thought he was superb whole tournament, Hart (Probably best keeper in Europe) Cole (Mr consistent) and Welbeck (Just for trying his heart out) as for my other two (Rooney and Young) least said the better. Defending wasnt to bad but going forward we just havent got it.
Sick to death of football at the moment, looking forward to getting out to CDA late July, hoping the dolcite tones of Mr Ian Brown and the Stone Roses will cheer me up on Sat (Heaton Park) but no doubt it will pee down as all day outdoor gig, bring on the sunshine with no football but chill out and beers.

Ged,
Sorry mate, cant agree about Hart, all mouth and trousers! his kicking is the worst I have seen since Mark Bosnich, he flaps at everything and to quote him " I will save the pens and score them as well" then he dives the wrong way for 3 out of the 4. Best to just keep quiet and concentrate on the job in hand I would say.
Anyway, just booked flights to come out on thursday, looking forward to seeing all the improvements since last time I was out and hopefully squeeze in a game of golf.

Jeez, I'm out Sunday, can someone describe what Dakey looks like/wears, just so i can avoid him .......... i want some peace not a load of jibber jabber.
Agree about Hart on the kicking and occasional flapping at crosses, but he'll work on those aspects, one thing that annoys me is backpasses from players who could clear it easily but put their keeper in trouble by passing the buck/ball to them - Hart gets a few of those with England i've noticed. His covering, blocking and shot-stopping is already top class tho and he has no competition as a keeper ............ Shilton, Clemence, Parkes, Corrigan days are long gone
As for Rooney, then another letdown tournament, stupid ban then 2 poor games with 2 easy headers (1 in each game) where his fat body couldn't get off the ground .... anyone else notice he can't jump, run fast or even trap a ball at tournaments? And Young - did he even play, oh yeah he did as i remember him practicing his Olympics routine a couple of times, the one he does with Tom Daley
Lets face it, we no-longer have enough top class English players to pick, in fact we haven't had enough for 46 years so nothing changes for me at my tender age of 45, it's all I've ever known

posting as a football enthusiast but with no particular players to promote i watched most of the england matches. it seems to me that as lomg as over 60% of the top premier teams are foreign players our young players will have limited opportunities to progress in the numbers to develop a good team on backpassing it seems pointless to pass the ball back 30 yards just for the keeper to hoof it up the field. You might as well kick it from 30 yards nearer the goal you are hoping you might score in. saves putting your keeper in trouble and you might just put pressure on the oppoition defence. italy did a few times whenever i see glimpses of training the players seem to be in a circle just passing to each other a few yards. they then repeat this in the matches. perhaps we should practise long passes to split a defence instead. just a few thoughts

George, Daves,
I will kick off the early predictions just to get it going, apart from my annual prediction that Utd will sweep the board, my main prediction is that Chelsea and Man City will, before the season starts spend mind boggling multi million amounts of money that their little clubs cannot afford courtesey of their owners pockets, just to be able to compete with the genuine big clubs like Utd and Arsenal. There fellas I wonder if anyone will bet against that main prediction?

Actually dakey, the world s economice leaders are really pleased with the attitdude that the big spending clubs have as its the only way out the recession.
All these teams that just pay off debt and dont spend arent helping the economy at all.
The central banks have pumped zillions into the banks and told them to lend and they still dont.
So those football clubs that spend have to be revered. And it does pay back,. torres shirt sales alone paid his transfer fee back!
And come to asia and you will see thousands of chelsea shirts. something im sure didnt happen 10 years ago!
Lets get out this recession quicky because otherwise mervyn kings words that we arent half way through the economic recession could be true!

This is the best football joke i have ever heard
A tourist walked into a Brighton antique shop.
After looking around for a while, he noticed a very life-like bronze statue of a rat.
It had no price tag, but it was so striking that he decided to buy it anyway.
He took it to the owner and said:
'How much is this bronze rat?'
The owner replied: 'It's £12 for the rat, and £100 for the story.'
The tourist gave the owner his £12 and said:
'I'll just take the rat, you can keep the story.'
As he walked off down the street, he noticed that a few real rats had
crawled out of the sewers and begun following him.
This was a little disconcerting, so he started to walk a little faster,
but within a couple of blocks the swarm of rats had grown to hundreds,
and they were all squealing and screeching in a very menacing way.
He increased his speed & ran on towards the beach,
and as he ran, he looked behind him and saw the rats now
numbered in their MILLIONS, and they were running faster & faster.
By now very concerned, he ran down to the pier and
threw the bronze Rat far out into the water..
Amazingly, the millions of real rats jumped into the water
after it and were all drowned.
The man walked back to relate all this to the shop owner, who said:
'Ah, you've come back for the story then?'
'No,' said the tourist,
'I came back to see if you've got a bronze Muslim
Fundamentalist Cleric, a couple of illegal immigrants,
a Manchester United supporter, and anything French!'

Well Fellas,
Just had a fabulous week or so on Condado, Got bladdered in the Clover first couple of days and met Martin (cuz) and June who invited me for a game of Golf the following weds. Neil joined me in the society who now play 3 times weekly and 40 euros including a buggy on that track is not to be sniffed at I can tell you. The downside is I have not improved from my last effort and the course gobbled me up and spit me out again. At least I can hold my head up and say that declaring my old handicap of 16 from when I used tp play regular means that no one can say I am a bandit, although with only 22 points posted with a slope handicap of 21 means I am going to change my name by deed poll to Dave Roy! Good stuff by Martin though with 34 points.
As I promised I turned up at the clover for the match in my Utd gear and duly bumped into Dave ( shampers) who actually turned out to be quite a decent fellow. Dave Roy, Shampers has got a bit more hair than you and is a bit slimmer but other than that you look quite similar, must be the standard look for City fans these days. Halfway through the night he came out with a bit of a bombshell, saying that the likes of Chaddy and Tony dont really exist and were merely alter ego characters of other posters like yourself, then it dawned on me that how can there be so many city posters on here when there are hardly any that go to games or live in Manchester! It all makes sense now, thanks for that Shampers.
On the weds night we went down the the Condado Club to see the Kylie show and what a class little act they were and easy on the eye too I have to say. The extensive menu in the Bulgarian meant I told the other half she must experiment and try something new, which she duly did, then after studying the menu for half an hour I plumbed for my usual sirloin steak, yes boring I know.
I went to the Tapas bar about 3 times trying to get them to understand that I wanted a spit roast chicken to take out, then at the end of the week I saw them advertised outside the La Cata bar at the other side of the Al Kasar and realised I was going to the wrong place all week!
All in all a fabulous little break, with plenty of drinking, golf and sex, I did the first two and Yvonne took care of the third!! I would like to thank Neil and Martin and everyone for their help and hospitallity and am well chuffed with the progrees the resort has made since the last time we were there. Next time hopefully 30 odd points on the course will be followed by a few cold ones on the top sun terrace at the new clubhouse looking over the course, Now lets get serious, with our two new young superstar signings and Vidic and the rest of the injuries cleared up and Baines on his way in our title is coming home, sure as eggs is eggs.
Cheers, Dakey
