Shane,
Explanation please, I have scoured the sports pages but can find no reference to your comment about Utd and the CL. I think you will find if we were offered a place I would expect us to decline it as we were knocked out fair and square and I for one would prefer us to commit all our efforts on retaining our title.
Also, I think after today and being totally outplayed by mighty Wigan, we should all thank mini me City (Chelsea) for beating City in the week, but even the most diehard Chelsea fan must accept that the game is up for this season and they will just have to settle for being the third best team in London behind Arsenal and Spurs.
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey,
Here's the article I read in the Irish Times. Its an interesting read.
Champions League lifeline for United
Soccer: Manchester United could still be involved in the last 16 of the Champions League after Fifa today threatened to suspend Switzerland over the case involving first division club Sion.
The Swiss FA was given a deadline of January 13th to follow Fifa’s instructions or face a ban which would also result in FC Basel being expelled from the Champions League and a possible reinstatement of last year’s beaten finalists.
The Swiss champions dumped United out of the Champions League and into the Europa Cup, earning a 3-3 draw at Old Trafford before winning the home leg 2-1.
“Should this deadline not be respected, the Swiss FA will be automatically suspended from 14 January 2012 onwards,” the statement said.
If suspended, Switzerland - due to host Argentina in a friendly in February - would not be able to play any international matches and FC Basel would be unable to take part in the Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich.
Euro 2012 would not be affected, however, as Switzerland did not qualify for the finals.
The warning follows a complex legal battle in which Sion defied Fifa and Uefa statutes by taking its case over a transfer ban to a civil court.
The case began when Sion signed six players in the summer while still subject to the transfer ban for poaching a player from an Egyptian club in 2008.
The six players took their case to a civil court in the canton of Valais, which ruled they could play. Sion subsequently fielded them in the Swiss league.
Some of the players appeared in a Europa League qualifying tie against Celtic. Sion won the tie but were then expelled from the competition by Uefa who ruled the players were ineligible.
Sion then obtained an injunction at another court in the canton of Vaud, where Uefa’s headquarters are based, ordering European soccer's governing body to reinstate them to the competition.
However, this injunction referred the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) which on Thursday ruled in favour of Uefa.
In the meantime, the injunction obtained by the players in Valais canton was also overturned by a higher court.
Fifa now wants the Swiss League to award 3-0 defeats against Sion in every domestic match in which any of the six players were fielded.
“The executive committee decided to give a final deadline of January 13 to the Swiss FA to enforce the registration ban imposed on Sion....and to sanction the attitude of the club repeatedly trying to circumvent this decision in a legally abusive manner," said Fifa.
“As a consequence, all matches in which the relevant players participated shall be declared forfeit or three points shall be deducted respectively.”
Cheers

I do fear Spurs will have another good season and going out of the frieght rover europa league is the best thing that could have happened. It will let your squad rest and the lack of injuries you have will make the difference I think.
As much as I hate to admit your playing good footie and when Harry spends his time working on football rather than fiddling the Tax man he seems to get it right. I hope he solves the cash probs as he is nailed on for the England job. Countries gain spurs loss perfect for me!
Dave
I write this B 4 kick off and again will take a point.
Dakey
no spaces today fans allways turn up to see entertaining teams and we always provide that with great passing fluent movement and comical defending.
Dakey / Ged / Dave
They even made the europa fun with that draw can you honestly put reserves against those teams, pride must come into play. but Amsterdam and the fun that goes with it or golf and sun in portugal great choice Dave / Ged Enjoy
Ged / Dakey

Cracking days football, thouroughly enjoyable, have to agree with you Dave fantastic game to watch, although much too open to be a mangers dream game. Thought the gunners were a little unlucky to not come away with the point Neil wanted but thats football, sometimes you dont get what you deserve. It was nice to go back top for a little while, but I will stick to my original prediction that we will be in front by mid January on level games.
Shane, interesting article that and cant understand why it has not been reported in the English press yet. I would say that if there was a place spare it should go to the team with the most points who did not qualify and it pains me to say that team would be the bitters and not us, but that is just my opinion and when did EUFA ever go for the logical choice?
Cheers, Dakey

Fellas,
Just watched all the footie again while I am waiting for my permit to work and although I understand that Jay and Neil are gentlemen and probably dont wish to upset the bitters supporters, I myself have no such hang ups so how the hell can Silvas goal be quite correctly allowed as it was just onside, but RVPs' despite being just as 'level' was chalked off? Throw in the blatant handball by Richards right in front of the pathetic Dowd, but no penalty given and I would be going perplectic if I was a Gunners fan. Why is it that modern refs will not give handball if the players hands are down? that is not the rule, if the player has a clear view of the ball over a distance of 20 odd yards and makes no effort to move his arms out of the way then that is a deliberate act and should be penalised as such. Jay and Neil, you have my sympathy and for you as well as me, those decisions must have ruined what was otherwise a spectacular display by both sides..... Indeed, they were by far the second and third best displays of the day after Utds.
Cheers, Dakey

Usual drivel off Dakey again..
HTF is he supposed to move his arms out of the way when he didnt see it till it was upon him or where you watching a different match Miggy Boy??
Silvas goal was probably allowed because he WAS ONSIDE and Van Persil was OFFSIDE, its not rocket science even for someone who is registered blind due to overly thick red filters over his eyes!!
"that is not the rule, if the player has a clear view of the ball over a distance of 20 odd yards and makes no effort to move his arms out of the way then that is a deliberate act and should be penalised as such"
Where have you dreamt this up from Dakey lad the Sir Alex Taggart football rule book if its a City player manual??? HAHAHA
But a great effort at getting a big bite son!
All the best Chaddy

Chaddy,
I already said that Silvas goal was onside, the point on the TV this morning was that the assistant had flagged RVP offside as he was half a yard goalside to the player on the assistants side. The player that was level was Kompany who was on the far side of the box and the assitant couldnt see him as his vision was obscured by RVPs' body. This being because they were level along his line of sight. There mate simples isnt it.

Couldnt believe the draw when It came out, bloody Ajax, (So much for some lesser know teams and grounds to visit) I woudnt mind but Ive been their 3 times already, twice with England and once with United, unfortuantly or fortunate depending on the way I look at it I cant go anyway on 16th Feb as Im taking Sue to Belfast to see Noel Gallagher that night as I couldnt get any tickets for Apollo (Sold out) and its her birthday on the 15th also, so sorry mate not going to get chance for that beer before the flights however I do think United will fly from T1 and Citeh from T2 then on the way back they will stagger the flights so United get in first (seeing as we have a shorter flight).
Enjoy Porto mate, to be honest not a lot their, a few bars either side of the river, some nice fish resturants, the ground is about 15 mins away, coaches will drop you by a shopping ctr/market place then its a walk along the side of the river (About 6 bars within a mile walk) then over the iron bridge to otherside where there are a lot more bars etc.
Cheers
Ged

Oh well
Asked for a point and not quite think we deserved to share the spoils. Its hard to witness what can only be described a the best advert poss for the Prem and get nothing at the end.
Dakey told you that we would bring the entertainment to City and fill the place but does not distract from a bad weekend as we did not get the best of the referee and all the others winning Think that just about puts the title to bed for us.
Chelski - Yids will be intresting and is nice to have a full weekday program to get me away from the weekend.
Dave Congrates to ur side on the game unable to look away for a second and although thought a point was earned cant say the result was unfair.

Neil & Jay,
Loved the game, your certainly well around the corner from where you were early in the season.
Talking after the game with mates, it's pretty rare when you can't think of a single player that didn't perform well. You tried to give young Samir loads of stick again but it worked well in his favour. Loved the priceless comical moment at the end when the in-house commentator announced man of the match "Sami Nasri". I wish he had shot when twice through on goal, seemed desperate not to score.
Just for once our shooting boots were a little off target.
Busy busy time coming up, can't keep up with the amount of tickets to get. I always have 6 to get, with 8 for the cup games and euro ties.
A little bit of a gap appearing at the bottom for my mate Derek's Bolton team. Premiership over if we beat Stoke and Fulham win.
They've started building this big trophy room now, it's a he'll of a size ha ha I've seen plaques for 4 trophies this season lol. Any of you guys over at CDA with Neil over christmas?
(Big editting job, I didn't have the technology to start a new paragraph with my i-phone ha ha)

Dave,
Get them to take their time building it and make it large and comfortable, then they can put you and woody in it as dillusioned fans of the year. What did Nasri get MOM for? How to hit a 6 yard pass away from two teammates practically stood on the line? I must admit that took some level of skill, not many could have pulled that off.
You have been saying all year that if this was that and that was this then it is all over. Look over your shoulder mate, we are just two little points behind and getting better every match. You need to gear yourself up to hold Spurs at bay for runners up slot mate as the title is coming back home into a proper bulging trophy cabinet and despite all the bluster, I think you quietly realise that, inevitably, that will be the outcome.
Cheers, Dakey

Alright chaps
Just about over the sunday game. I felt sick for three days and had to get totally pissed at the darts last night. If you aint been to that it's a must. Great atmosphere and the last game last night was totally mad. Highly recommended!!
Could not bring myself to comment on the match as I really did think we were the better team on the day and robbed as Dakey correctly called it. A definite hand ball because the the touch enabled him to clear his lines as the ball fell at his feet and he had ample time to see the ball coming into the area from the cross. Dowd is a **** and a proper gooner hater. Never gives us a thing and responsible for the debacle at St james park last year. I'd love to meet him. RVP on side as much as Silva but them's the breaks and it hurt. That's twice in a few weeks that Citeh have literally fag paper'd us out of it and for the money spent I'm still much more impressed with our team than theres.
Remember Tony, Chaddy and Dave we don't have a full back fit in our squad of 25 and the centre half who was playing right back went off injured half way through. I'm not bemoaning our luck but you gotta admit that would impinge on anyones side. I honestly think that there's virtually F A difference in quality between all the teams presently and I'll say it again there's a LONG LONG way to go yet.
Hopefully with Villa in the form they're currently in we'll bounce back with a nice away win tonight. Chelski and Sp*rs to draw and we're back in there.
Any you guys out at CDA for xmas/new year period?
Jay

Right Dave,
We have just got 6 points from two tricky away fixtures to match your two home wins. Now the boot is on the other foot. We have two relatively easy home games while you have a couple of potentially banana skin away games at West Brom and Sunderland. Far from being all over as you so arrogantly put it, lets see how you navigate those fixtures. We may just be top on level games a little earlier than I first predicted, although football does have a habit of not going to plan.
Cheers, Dakey

Another 3 stonewall penalties tonight in three separate games with all the referees within touching distance. How could the ref not give RVP the penalty and instead book him. Mind bogglingly stupid. Are they really all shite? Jay

I think I suffer from a similar complaint to yourself and probably all fans, watching your own team more than the opposition. I thought our game with you was wonderful, from the beginning to end. Ref descisions are made in every game and can certainly affect the outcome.
We had 6 very good goal scoring opportunities which we have been regularly taking, ZAB post, Ballotelli point blank 3 from Aguero etc. Obviously the score could have been different as our ref affected game at Chelsea, was .
Dowd was very very lenient with Song, even more lenient with Arteta and Aguerro was on thin ice at the end. But sendings off do more to spoil games ala Clichy. Unbiasedly I would have said 4-2 was a realistic game score.
Dakey
2 Very good results. January will sort things out I reckon. Your still within touching distance. Squads will be tested.
Another record last night 924 succesful passes in a game !!!! Stoke did not muster 1 shot on or off target in 96 minutes and brought less than 750 fans???
May I be first to wish you all the very best at Christmas and New year. I enjoy our website so much.
May you're teams cheer you to the brim and bring you all that you desire. ( obviously except Dakey's ha ha ) xx

Dave,
I agree about the squads, but ours has been tested to the limit and beyond already and come up trumps, yours has yet to be tested as you have had very few injuries to speak of yet.
All the very best to you all.

Was just thinking about the 6 points we got from 2 very tricky away games in the run up to Xmas, namely at Spuds & Manure. If only the ref hadn't constantly pointed to the centre circle then the results may have been different ..........
Happy Xmas to one and all and may i be granted a bit more time to participate on here next year
Salud
