I know we are going a bit off thread here so its my last one on the subject.
10 years, trillions of dollars, 1000s of soldiers and civilians dead, state of the art technology and the yanks are boasting of finding Bin Laden...............IN HIS HOUSE!

Back to the business on hand,
We can all see the football that Barca play and sometimes it is not only effective but absolutely brilliant to watch...... BUT, the fact remains that Real Madrid, who are a rich mans clogging outfit and with the referees apparently showing a Chelsea style bias towards the catalans, have just played three matches against them, winning one, losing one and drawing the other. That tells me if you stay focussed, compete like crazy and are on top of your game for 90 minutes, then they are certainly not unbeatable. I think they have got a defensive achilles heel, but I am not certain as you cannot normally get the ball off them and retain it for long enough to test the defence out. One thing is certain though, I look forward to giving it a go and nobody else has earned the right to do so.
Cheers, Dakey

Neville clear red card not given v Stoke
Neville clear red card and penalty not given v WBA
Fabio clear red card and penalty not given v Blackpool
Rooney clear red card for an elbow not given v Sunderland
Giggs clear red card for 2 footed lunge not given v Fulham
Giggs given a yellow card for kicking Dids at SB, violent conduct should be a red
Rio Ferdinand allowed to push over Anichebe in the box v Everton
Vidic clear red card and penalty not given v Arsenal
Rooney three 2nd yellow offences ignored against Arsenal (swearing at the ref as he is booked, kicking the ball away at Wilshere, grappling with Song)
utd awarded very harsh peno v west ham when the ball was kicked at upson's hand about 2 yards away.
are these the decisions you mean dakey?

No george,
I started to list Chelseas game changing decisions, Then I had to stop as not only did those decisions win you the last three league games against Utd, without the rest that are too long to mention you would actually have been relegated already! We have had some go in our favour, but a hell of a lot more go against us. I now think, as I have said previously, that I no longer think the refs are biased but are just very poor, for everybody. I knew my little jibe in the Barca post would illicit a paranoid response from you and I was not disappointed.
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey,
I agree there are definite similarities in the way that both Barca and Chelsea seem to have the establishment behind them and this influences officials decisions. As George rightly points out, we get our share but nothing like what Chelsea get. It is also not all about the big decisions because the sum of the smaller, seemingly insignificant decisions stack up eventually. I've lost count of games where players get booked for next to nothing but then Terry, Essien, Ramires, Mikel and in the old days Carvalho (although he's just doing it elsewhere now) manage to get away with foul after foul. Their game with Spurs last week had a number of examples of this. In their games against us recently both Essien and Ramires should have been given their marching orders at various points in the game. This was the case with Barca last night. Yes they deserved to win but they did get a lot of free kick decisions where similar offences on Real were not punished. They also showed great recovery powers on a number of occassions by being able to play on seconds after looking for all the world they'd been put down by a US Navy Seals bullet.
I also agree, rather like the Brazilian national side, that whilst being a good team they are not perhaps as good as they and many think they are. Barca will obviously be favourites for the final whoever they play, but if it is us and we play well I shall look forward to a treat - win or lose.
All we can hope is that we get a fair, or strong, referee for the game.
I see with got Mr Webb on sunday which is probably the best it can be - putting to one side the goal that Giggs scored against Chelsea in the Cup Final a couple of years ago that he chose to ignore.
Focus on tonight's game now with the hope of no cock ups !

George, mate
Read the post correctly, I mentioned the last three League games, two last year that allowed you the league title that you keep boasting about and the debacle this year when your marx brother look alike centre half was allowed to stay on the field after GBH on rooney and smalling was adjudged to have given away a penalty for sneezing in the area. I think you are refering to the Champions league where you could have had a late penalty awarded to earn a score draw at home, but we mullered you at O/T so it didnt matter anyway. So yes senality does creep up on you and makes you mix up facts and misread posts.
On a final note, I could have been upset by your snide reference to my advancing years, but I can assure you now, I have not got a bad memory! and another thing, I have not got a bad memory.
Cheers, Dakey

Well Fellas,
Pep sat up in the stands must be crapping himself, he must have thought " I am going to sack my admin staff, they have sent me here to watch our potential final oponents and its a reserve team game" He must be so confused, what other team can play 7 reserves in a Champions League Semi-Final? it is unheard of. and before we get any stupid comments, Schalke, in their last CL away match despatched the holders in the san siro 5-2, just to put it in perspective. It is all just boiling up nicely and george, if only I could remember who we play next, dont worry I am sure it will come to me:
cheers, Dakey

Well done Dakey and Kev
It was a bit of a walk in the park last night wasn't it? The germans did not look too good last night and I for one certtainly hope you sign the goalkeeper that Fergie was raving about last week.
However I'm going to be looking forward to CL final to see if you can emulate the Arsenal and actually beat them in a one off game.
Cheers
Jay

Thanks for that Jay,
I am a bit confused however, it must be this senality that George says I suffer from. I remember you beating them in a first leg to lead at half time, so to speak and then get absolutely mullered in the second half (second leg) but for the life of me mate I cant remember you beating them in a one off game like a final. Now they beat us in 2009 in a one off game in the final 2-0, but the year before as I remember we did something you never managed, we actually beat them over two legs by drawing in the nou camp and winning at O/T and 2008 is really not that long ago. I mean the Arsenal had not won a trophy for three years back then and John Terry had never missed a penalty. So the recent history of our encounters is pretty much even stevens and I have a feeling they will not be too cocky come the 28th after their manager witnessed first hand what our team, containing mostly reserves are capable of...... Whoops, I dont need to remind you of that Jay do I, our reserves did exactly the same to the gunners in the FA Cup didnt we, silly me!
Cheers, Dakey

I must be losing my memory as well because the only game I can seem to focus on right now is the first 11 you put out at the grove on Sunday and the first 11 (minus Cesc possibly our best player) that the Arsenal put out!!! And the result was???
Ahhh memories eh!!

He's tryin to tell me they had an understrength side in the semi which, was only Rooney out banned and he rested Giggs for something in the press!!!!! naughty lad. Otherwise full strength.
We had no Richards, No Tevez but farely decent replacements.
Is it only Utd who still waffle about first team and reserves. We all have 21 outfield players who on occasion have to be swapped.
I think Georgeh might have touched a senile nerve. He's not writing as Kev on days he can't remember.

Jay,
Law of averages mate, you have to win one sometime if you play enough games, just like you have to win a trophy if you play for enough decades.
Dave,
I well remember your favourite trunks unfortunately being a tight scotsman you wore them to death. Dont you remember they were Speedo and you were strutting around harpurhey baths proud as punch and had not realised that the 'S' had come off in the wash. I remember well all the parents chasing you up Moston Lane!
Cheers, Dakey
