Dakey,
I'm back and had better pipe up in the absence of everyone else. Has the season finished (well theirs has probably). Travelled back from CDA last night so only just got back on-line. Had to sit up till 3 in the morning having sky+ the game. What a performance !
Perhaps they've all gone quiet down south because they can't handle the pressure of the balance of power having shifted to them (allegedly) ?
The Arsenal game is a bit of an anti climax now and I'm wondering if Fergie will put out a full side - but you could say the same about the 2nd leg. We need to rest up before the CL Final now. Come on Ronnie and Real !

Chaddyowl,
You are quite correct, I cant remember any other team beating Inter Milan (the holders) 5-2 in the San Siro and 7-3 on aggregate. Now, because we absolutely dicked them, they are suddenly shite. strange emotion jealousy, I can never understand it.

Well it looks like Utd v Barca in the final but what a disgrace. Anyone who suggests that they won tonight's game through anything but a disgraceful display of diving, cheating, pleading for cards from the officials and getting fellow professionals sent off had better take their red and blue specs off. Yes they scored two very good goals and have a wonderful player in Messi (who should also have been booked a couple of time - consistency tell me about it as a Utd fan!!!!) but the whole ugly spectacle was soured by their behaviour. As Jim Royle would say - "Respect my arse".
Someone certainly needs to give that little Brat Alves a good lesson - if only we still had Nobby, Paddy, Remi or Robbo he'd get his comeuppance in the final.
Anyway, get a fair or should I say strong referee in the 2nd leg and maybe a few cards might go their way.

Kev,
coudnt agree more, all that diving about would do my head in, that Messi looks a bit tasty but we wont know how good he really is until he has been man marked by John O Shea, anyway he is due a hamstring strain isnt he?

I see Eufa have acted quickly to Barcelonas`deplorable shameful display of diving, cheating and fighting last night by charging both teams with a variety of offences. There is only one punishment to fit the crime, a two game champions league ban for Messi, effective immediately! I am not being biased, honestly, it is an objective suggestion:

I agree. UEFA of course didn't show any favoritism in making one charge aganist Barca and half a dozen or so against Real. And no charges to either of them for their appalling hounding of the referee. Both irst teams should get a minimum two match ban from Europe to demonstrate UEFAs commitment to the Respect campaign. As with you Dakey, I have no personal interest in making such a suggestion.
Can't wait to see Fergie's selection against the Goners (sorry Gooners) on Sunday but in the meantime - COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!

Kev,
its only because we are so close to the title that it is an important game, otherwise games against Arsenal are not that big any more. Fergie played 7 reserves against them in the Cup at O/T and we still beat them comfortably so I fear he could contemplate something even dafter this time. For me I would be happy not to lose as a draw would mean that we can then win it by beating Chelsea (again) at home next league game and it would not get any better than that!
To finish, at one time not long ago, posts like ours would prompt a strong and reasoned retort from our Arsenal friend, Jay but alas I fear he has finally given up on them. George, our Chelsea representative on the other hand, still has some fight left in him, but he has been severely shaken by the referees deserting his team in their hour of need and I think he also realises that without their help his team are also up the creek without a paddle. Smivs ( shane) realises that his beloved spurs have had their ten minutes in the sun and are slipping back to their usual mid table position, so he threw the towel in a while back. That just leaves my City mate Dave. I know he was delighted to beat our deliberately weakened team in the semi, but he has been bitten that many times over the decades and I think he realises that Stoke are destined to do them big style in the final. If however, they manage to win it and also finish fourth then expect a tirade of nonsense from him all summer as his long bottled up emotions get the better of his scant common sense.
I think though for the next few weeks it will be mainly me and you Kev, throwing out a few bombs trying to entice our football friends out of their hidey holes as we savour the run in.
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey, when Mourinho finally takes over from Fergie (I think Moyes will be elsewhere unless my lot find that billionaire) you and united will truly deserve eachother - only the dark one has an ego big enough to handle that job and utd fans expectations

Hello Jeb,
Nice to hear from you again, Utd fans of my age (54) have no expectations as we lived through the barren years. I may lay it on a little these days, but I learned that listening to Liverpool fans for 20 years when they were good and we were shite.
You wish for a billionaire, but that is not all that, look at City. You may find you dont need one, Eufa has come out and said that come 2014 anyone who has made a loss on EARNED income of more 39 million pounds over the previous 3 years (13 million per year) will not be allowed to compete in their competitions. That rules out Chelsea and City and probably a few more, so the Sheike and Abramovic and the like will be as much use as a chocolate fireguard, All Eufa has to do is stick to its guns and not bottle out and the likes of Everton and others who have gone about their business prudently will then have a chance to compete again, without selling their soul to the devil.
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey,
Your last but one post had me lol. Good job we can still find things to discuss as the others seem to have deserted us - perhaps they've gone on their summer hols already. Like you, I've just turned 50 and therefore spent most of my life suffering watching Liverpool do us every year. The years when I was able to get to every game we won a couple of FA Cups and little else. The last 20 years have been a break from that and I know it will end at some point. My expectations will drop when Sir Alex decides to hang up his jock strap as there is only one way to go from where he has taken us. Good to hear from Jeb though even he didn't seem to happy to join in - Jeb, thought you'd be chuffed the way your lads are playing. Everton put in a really good perfomance at OT last week and if they keep that up till the ens of the season they'll finish well.
Your mate City Dave is a bit like the team he follows - very inconsistent and you're not sure if he's going to turn up week to week. Don't know where George is as his lot have still got some fight in them (respect) but it will depend on who refs their games for the rest of the season as to where they finish.

Kev,
I love my mate Dave to bits, we go back many years when we worked for North Manchester company, Mather & Platt. When Weir pumps bought us out and moved us 40 mile away, Dave did something very brave, he took his redundancy and set up on his own and I have to say he has done very well thank you. The reason I tell that story is because I think there is something to work on and I have never given up trying to bring out the latent Red in him, I know it is there, ever since he collapsed in my arms when I had talked him down from the ledge on top of John Lewis in Manchester Centre after another City failure, he whispered to me " Den, there has got to be more to life than following this shite! please help me". I have never stopped trying since. I owe him that much.
Cheers, Den

Kev,
not that it is going to make a blind bit of difference to the outcome of the title, but two things are blindingly obvious after that,
1) Gomez should never pull on a jersey again at any level, I have never seen a bigger clown between the sticks in my life!
2) The officials have been secretly briefed to make a fist of the league title race at any cost and never mind integrity. You can only draw the conclusion that they are bent as the other conclusion is that despite all the training and seminars and meetings and viewing videos of their mistakes they are just totally inept at what they do and shouldnt be anywhere near a football pitch. It is not just a few of them either, they just take it in turns on what looks like a rota system.
It changes nothing for us, a draw tomorrow and a win next week and bobs your uncle and no amount of bent refereeing is going to change that!
Cheers, Dakey

I wonder if the utd fans have forgotton the goal spurs scored against them that was 2 yards over the line. I think today was the first time chelsea have had any decisions go there way this season so about time. fergie has had the refs in his pocket for too long. so stop bleating and start crying when arse beat you tomorrow(hopefully).

George,
That is my point, Carrol drops one two yards over the line, Decision? no goal. Gomes lets one through his legs but stops the ball on the line, Decision? goal. You could be forgiven in thinking that both officials are bent along with a hundred other similar occasions ( most of them in Chelseas favour! only joking), but it is probably that they are just P... Poor at what they do and it gets all our backs up. What does blatter and platini do? give us extra officials instead of technology so the very thing that is causing the problem gets increased. you just couldnt make it up could you.
No doubt we will all be back on tomorrow and then next week berating some poor idiot for costing us the game, although it would need a world record of idiot decisions for Arsenal to get something tomorrow!
Cheers, Dakey
