Happy Birthday Jayson......I am sure Lisa can find something more interesting to do in Town then spend 2 hours at the Grove..!!  Aint love grand eh..!!

Not sure who I want to win this one.......but a draw would be handy or an Arsenal defeat, but cannot see that happening.  Watched Utd in the Pub last night on the dodgy Sky.........played a bit better than recent times & scoreline flatterd Stoke in all fairness. The boy Hernandez looks a class finisher & the team looked more balanced with Nani back.   If we can get Valencia back soon I remain optimistic.   Looking forward to the FA Cup tie against the old enemy on Sunday.....much prefer ties like this instead of Scunthorpe or Hereford at Home!!

How many times did you play CdA on your visit..?     Any signs of movement on the clubhouse...?

Enjoy your birthday treat mate....as you say a must win for both, so it should be a good game. Will be watching & wishing for the draw, but to be honest we cannot loose in a game like this

Skelly

Hey Nick,

What do you mean? playing Liverpool is the same as playing Scunthorpe or Hereford these days!

I agree mate. Christmas without football would be a massive no no so Bla**er can keep his filthy plans on a break to himself.

However I read this article from the professor which I cant help but agree with(even if I weren't a gooner)!!

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal will profit on the pitch from European football's new financial restrictions in 2011/12

The Gunners boss said the likes of Manchester City cannot be criticised for spending big under current rules.

You can do it their way, buying the best players in the world. What I want to show is it works our way as well."

The Frenchman, who prefers to develop young talent over expensive signings, added: "It is supposed to change [in 2012], then we will see."

Governing body Uefa's new rules, under which clubs must break even over a rolling three-year period if they want to play in the Champions League or the Europa League, will be phased in from the 2011/2012 season.

It means that clubs hoping to compete in those competitions will only be allowed to incur losses of around £39m over any three-season period.

606: DEBATE

benmonty

Since buying Manchester City in 2008, the club's Abu Dhabi-based owners have invested around £1bn in their attempts to gatecrash football's elite.

Wenger, whose team face Roberto Mancini's City side at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, said: "What is fantastic in football is there is no given formula [for success].

"I personally am a big fan of the way we do it, so I try to be successful with that.

"The real, true test would be that everybody has exactly the same resources," said Wenger, whose side last won a trophy in 2005.

"Give £100m to all the 20 clubs in the Premier League and say 'Let's go'. Then you can say at the end of the year the best club has won."

Arsenal can overhaul City with a win on Wednesday, but while Mancini is close to signing £30m striker Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg, Wenger is cautious over adding to his squad in the January transfer window.

Wenger cautious .......What a suprise!!

Thanks Nick,

A mate of mine phoned up with two together in the upper tier and despite having a meal penciled in at a nice little restauarant and then back to ours for the HD experience, the old involuntary "yeah i'll have em" popped out my mouth before I could think!!

Lisa seemed to be OK with it!!

Utd well worth the three points last night mate and I think the only way your unbeaten run will end is if  one of the other top 5 teams manage to put a good performance on against you and if Gary Neville keeps playing!!!! Tonight I'm not sure what will happen but like I have said lets hope Citeh come to play and make it good game. To be fair their recent away form has been good so it could go anyway.

The FA Cup has thrown up some goodun's none more than your match and ours has also got a bit of history to it so looking forward to them.

Billy and I played Condado once and I really had a good one round there for a change! Slightly less so intimidating now I'm learning me way round it. Would of played it more but 50 euros for me and 35 Euros for the lad is just bit steep at the moment!!! Ended up playing Sensol on the Thursday which was not too bad at all especially as Billy was on for nish. I think you mentioned that to me before about under 16's with H/C certificates play for nothing on Sensol,  worth thinking about for the summer. I dont know if a paying adult needs to be there for that deal but assume so. As for clubhouse no news on that apart from what people were saying in the Clover and on the websites. Looks like february now ....don't hold your breath eh.

Anyhows cheers for now and All the best to you and yours

Even though Utd are not playing tonight, I am so excited about the game at the Emirates. It is a classic clash of two different philosophies. On the one hand you have Man City with their vulgar spending in an attempt to win something at all costs and then at the other end of the spectrum you have Arsene  Wenger who has built an exciting team on a shoestring, but seems totally determined not to spend money to plug the couple of glaring weaknesses in his team that have prevented him from winning anything for over 5 years. It is a fascinating contrast but is one of the many sub plots in our league that makes it by far the best in the world, in my humble opinion.

One thing for sure though, if one of the teams loses tonight then that will almost certainly be the end for that particular philosophy as far as winning the title this year is concerned. I am sat here willing the clock hands to go round faster.

Cheers, Dakey

Just leaving the stadium I'm sorry Dave but that's not the brand of football that your mob should be playing! The chants at the end said it all. I'm off for a ruby! Jay

I have to agree with that.

OK,  if City do sneak the title they will be shown to be right, but they didn't even look like they were interested in winning the game.

Don't know why they need a new striker, they have about 5 and only use 1 as it is.  They are a big team, a good team, but alas a very boring team for neutrals to watch.

I've seen a couple of the games City have played against the other teams in the Top 5 and to be honest they have been muck.  Don't know what the stats are but they certainly don't seem to try much against decent opposition.

Very dissapointing that this is their tactics as I see City being a major (if not the) force in the league in a couple of years.

Fellas,

It is everybodys solomn duty to ensure that City do not win anything this season, not just the league. At a time when almost every other team, winning or not, are enhancing the reputation of the league by trying to play the right way, we continually get these mind numbingly boring displays from the most expensively built team in the world where they are almost frightened to come out and play. It is just not on and we all must stop them in their tracks before they set our game back 20 years.

Now the dust has settled on the festive fixtures, the objective view must be that its Utds title, with Arsenal and City battling out the runners up spot and Spurs or Chelsea competing for the last Champions league place with maybe a challenge from a dark horse coming through late, Sunderland or Bolton perhaps.

Spurs next up for us after Cup week, that is a tough away game but I will guarantee one thing this Manchester club will come to London and win or lose we will give it a real go and along with Spurs make it a spectacle for the fans. not sit back in our own half frightened of our own shadow!

Cheers, Dakey

Hope you enjoyed your ruby better than the match. I'd take our point all day. 3 defensive changes took time to settle and you could've / should've scored. Second half one effort from 25 yards. Had you scored he would have tried other things. Shane, results against other top clubs Liverpool (were near top at time) 3-0, Chelsea 1-0, Utd 0-0, Spurs away 0-0 Arsenal away 0-0. Arsenal beat us at home when down to 10 men with 3 mins gone. We played very well that day.

Only 5 games ago we battered Everton and came away with a defeat. I think Arsenal deserve a bit of credit at home. Need Silva and Ballotelli back fit.

Our goal difference not so long ago was only 4. Its pretty healthy now. Don't forget Utds 2 games in hand are Chelsea at the Bridge and Blackpool away. Still very much all to play for

Dave

Dave,

Don't get me wrong...City are getting results.

They just seem to stack the team with big fellas who have a physical presence and/or have their creative players dropping back so far to defend.

As I said I think City will be one of (or the) team to beat in the next few years.  I just wish they were setting their targets at a football style more like Barcelona than what they are dishing up at the moment.

Pains me to say it (as a Spurs fan) but Arsenal are still the team for me to watch for football.  Spurs games on a whole are great to watch because I never know whats going to happen and we are playing a great brand of football.  But watching last night, the likes of Wilshire, Nasri, and Cesc made Barry, Milner etc look like donkeys.

On an aside I will be interested if City can offload some of their players.  Due to the wages they signed them up for I think it might be harder than they think.

As a whole though City has breathed a bit of life into the league and opened it up a bit.  As a Spurs fan I wish they could have waited a few years more!!

Cheers

Shane

Dave,

That is the most frustrating thing about City, they have the players to play expansive entertaining football and do so on occasions, but it seems that every time they come up against a top side they retreat into their shell and will not come out of their own half. I mean, for gods sake, Arsenal away I can maybe understand a bit of caution, but you did exactly the same against Utd AT HOME!

Mancini just reverts to his Italian defensive instincts when in these situations and it is his right to do so, but for the sake of our league let him go back to Italy and do it there. It says it all when he picks Job, a journeyman, on the left because he is big and strong and leaves one of your best players Johnson on the bench. He blamed the fact that you could not get out of your half on having TWO key players out and that you were tired after 4 games in 10 days. Absolute tosh! what about all the other teams with players missing who were busting a gut to get forward in their 4th game, I have never heard such rubbish in my life.

I would expect everybody in the chasing pack to say it is all still to play for, but get real, it is as good as over and you all know it. It does not matter where our games in hand are, no one is going to give us 3, 4 or even 5 games start in what is now a 17/18 game season and haul us back in. NO CHANCE!

Cheers, Dakey

By every time we come up against, do you actually mean 2 games, one at Arsenal and one at home v your lot, where we had more shots on target more shots off target and more corners but seemed happy at the end with a draw.

I've known you jinx em before but not so early in the season. Your team are playing average and getting away with results both home and moreso away. You wont change this, cos your players are AVERAGE

Watch and enjoy Dave

Hey Dave,

It must be great viewing life through those blue tinted spectacles, but you are probably right mate, we are going to 'average' ourselves to a few trophies again this season, while you ' top class' yourself to nothing yet again.

Your Mate, Dakey

Dave,

I have just been watching football first for about the sixth time while I am waiting for my work permit. The results of the last few days look better and better each time I watch them, but I have just witnessed an absolute classic interview which highlights that the perception of footballers being thick is correct. The interviewer said to Stephen Hunt, " that was a brilliant performance against Chelsea, I have to ask the question, why were you bottom of the table tonight? to which he replied, " because we have to pull our fingers out against the teams below us!!" As I say ,absolute classic!

We nearly did it again, 12 months on from beating Man U at OT we gave the Gunners a run for their money at the Emirates and I'm sure they're happy to come back to Elland Road for the replay after being so close to defeat, I bet uncle Ken is a happy man anyway.

While it was a soft pen and one I'm not sure would have been given at the other end I think a draw was a fair result. I also think the ref was desparate to give it after pointing to the spot only one minute earlier when the linesman flagged for offside. This made him look rather stupid and more so now that Theo has admitted he dived when he actually stood on Bruces foot.

Enjoy your footy this weekend Guys

Simon

Well Dave,

Another 20 odd million pound signing to warm the bench when, like all the others, his performances do not come up to scratch.

Instead of commenting ignorantly on the fan base, Dzeko would be better served ensuring his displays help fill your relatively small rented accomodation, which you are patently failing to do at present. In the meantime, Utd will continue to attract 50,000 locals in crowds of 75,000 to every home game. As you know, all Mancunians, including City fans, are aware that there are twice as many reds in Manchester than blues. The person who organises the press conferences for new players at Eastlands needs to change the script as its making you a laughing stock.
