Dave,

Galatasary top of Turkish league, Braga within a win of top spot in Portuguese league, Man Utd, top of English league.

Dortmund, 11 points behind Bayern in German league, Ajax, 16 points behind the Dutch leaders, Real Madrid, 8 points behind Barca ( who have been soundly beaten by Celtic) and City who are just crap.

Now, I know you are not the brightest button in the tin, but its clear to anyone with half a brain that if you put the historic reputation of the clubs to one side, then one group of teams is on top of their game and by definition much harder to beat and the other group is struggling for any type of current form at the domestic level. So, in conclusion look at the facts and lets have no more nonsense about difficult groups. It is only difficult as all four of you are at the same low level and that is the only reason the group is competitive (for the other three teams that is, as your useless mob are out on your ear already)

Woooo!!!

Dave,

At the end of last season all four teams finished as Champions, so at that point or even at the point of the CL draw anyone would concede that it LOOKED a tough draw. At this particular moment the three teams in the group with you have absolutely no chance of winning their domestic titles and you have to interpret that fact as being they are much poorer than last year. How would you interpret the fact that they are out of their title races so early? and what does the fact that those out of form teams have wiped the floor with your mottley crew say about your own situation?

Even Chelsea are digging in trying to make a fist of it, Celtic with no money showed last night just what pride in your club can do. In fact, it is only City who after spending a billion pounds trying to buy the thing that are now the only ones causing the country shame and embarrassment. After such a short time at the top even your own fans are voting with their feet. Instead of just using the words drivel and dross all the time try and look at it objectively and produce some reasoned argument to try and counter the 'facts' that I give to you, or do the right thing and accept that I am correct and you will stop being a naughty boy!

The problem with City fans is they are blinded by the glamorous names when they come across clubs with a history. They can't separate the great achievements of the past with the form of the current day. They probably still look in awe of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Notts Forest as teams that have won the European Cup in the past.

Kev,

As usual and just like the Arsenal lads, you have looked at the situation and carefully produced a relevant post and also like usual you are spot on mate. You can just see the city lads Dave, Shampers, Tony, Chaddy and the rest sat there reading our posts, sucking their thumbs for a while then instructing whoever types their responses for them to say "Durr" or "Drivel" or "Dross" or the new one "Whoooo"

Someone really needs to give them some proper phrases to retort with like for instance "Full House" or maybe " European Qualification" mind you those phrases would not be relevant to their current situation so maybe not.

Kev,

Its so easy to argue with these thick blues, I made relevant points about their group rivals being out of their title races and that is true, but I deliberately mentioned that Ajax were 16 points behind when in fact it is only still a massive 9 points. Not one of them has picked me up on it. To quote one of Daves favourite phrases I would have to be a real "Durr Durr" to lose an argument with these fellas.

Dave,

Was due off today at long last, but flight was cancelled at the last minute due to the helicopter pilot being taken ill. I have just read the report released today of the reasons for the latest ditching last month and I think his bottle has gone. We have been flying around in these modified helicopters (60% of the north sea fleet) and a weld on the shaft below the main gear keeps breaking and disengaging the main and stand by oil pumps. you have about 2 minutes flying time when you lose the oil pumps before the gearbox seizes and the helicopter comes down upside down. What a fun 20 seconds or so that would be. To make matters worse the system that is supposed to kick in in emergencies that gives you a further 30 mins flying time has not worked on the last two incidents meaning the pilots had to ditch in the sea immediately. I sometimes wonder is it worth the £150 a week Weirs pay me, I could get that in your sweatshop.

The upside is I am not off while tomorrow afternoon so I will have to think of something else to post.

Ha ha keep reading the footie ones and stop reading helicopter failures. They're bad enough if you think they're safe but not if you know they have problems.

Woody not with you? Is Jeff back on after his scare?

Dave.

I didn't class Liverpool as under achievers historically but you have just reinforced my point about City fans. You hold Liverpool in awe because of their great past yet, even as you were perhaps typing your post, they were losing to a team most of would never have heard of! They are a mid table premiership team with a great past.

Starting to look forward to the weekend's matches already.

I've no idea about your allegiance to Dakey's lot or whether you've ever been to a football match??

The fact that Liverpool are going through a bad period in the clubs history detracts nothing from the superb period of dominance in the 70's/80s that they had.

When Dakey and me were at school city used to beat utd , home and away every year. From us coming up in 66 to utd. Going down in74 we won 6 and drew one derby at old Trafford

In the late 20's utd a averaged crowds of 11,000 and were nearly relegated to division 3

For a large period in history, united we're manchesters third team, behind us and manchester central

Only 4 major teams in world football have stayed at the very top all of their history. The best of which is rangers who up to this season finished in the top 4 every season in well over one hundred years except once when they were 6th.

Your team may now for ever stay at the top end of the premier leagues for ever more and reap the huge financial rewards allowing the purchase of world class players in abundance.

Never think or perpetuate the myth that your club has always been at the top.

One day you may just be taken over by a set of mercenaries who simply want to make money?????!!

Perhaps a Jewish American called glazer?? With 3 dodgy sons maybe

Liverpools history does not disappear when some BITTER united fan thinks its comical

Dave,

It just goes to show how things can turn over a period of time. I didnt know we were once Manchesters third team, but how the worm has turned...you are now Manchesters third team behind Utd and FC Utd of Manchester.

I also dont like to rain on your Scottish bonfire, but finishing in the top four or sixth in a two team league is hardly what I would class as staying at the top and seeing as how there is no Rangers anymore just a newco Rangers struggling in the fourth tier, with their last 20 year history expunged from the record for cheating I would be reticent to mention their name out loud. Mind you compared to the way City is run they are a paragon of virtue!!

Good morning Dave,

I have slept on your ramblings in your last post and I am a little confused about when exactly we were the 3rd team in Manchester and what criteria you used to come to that conclusion. First, and call me ignorant if you like but I have never heard of Manchester Central, so where did you find their records, on a cave wall somewhere? Secondly, We have won 19 titles and you have won 3 and by the process of deduction that means that prior to 1967, you had the grand total of ONE league title and we had SIX, so that cant have been your main criteria and apart from the league and FA Cup there wasnt much else to win in those days. There were two world wars to negotiate and that could cloud the issue for a while, indeed there was a spell just after Old Trafford was bombed when you had slightly more people going to watch your games than we had watching the builders move the rubble. The only other time could have been around the start of football as we know it, but we had a lot of our support away fighting the Americans trying to stop them gaining independance. Other than that mate you have got me flummaxed!

Dave,

I have just realised that one of your few claims to fame as a club has all been a sham and even all those years ago highlights your lack of support.

The biggest ever gate of 83,260 for a LEAGUE game was at Maine Road, but the game was Utd v Arsenal in 1948. Ah, but..... I can hear you start to say, City v Stoke in 1934 was the highest ever gate of 84,569. It has just dawned on me that when you blues regularly trot that one out you forget to mention it was not a league game but an FA Cup tie. What difference does that make? I will tell you, the ticket allocation for away fans in the FA cup is far higher than for league games and always has been. So the thing you forget to mention is that your mega record gate contained 20,000 Stoke City fans!!! Now who would have thought I would have sussed that one out whilst waiting for my helicopter.

Cheers, Dakey

Dave,

Your most recent rambling post makes no sense and I do wonder how Dakey has remained so sane if he's had to put up with you since his school days.

For the record, I've supported Utd through thick and thin since '66 including the glorious year in Division 2 which was one of my favorites actually. I don't get so often these days but have seen hundreds if not thousands of games both involving and not involving Utd. I was a season ticket holder at OT through the 70's and 80's when Liverpool were years ahead of anyone else and I fully respect their past during that era. I recall many disappointments in the old title races with only the odd FA Cup to cheer about. That does not mean I remain in awe of them now.

Unlike yourself and others who post on here I can appreciate good football played by anyone and am first and foremost a football fan. I then support Utd and would have it no other way. What we 'real' football fans like to see is team's being built through a mix of bringing players through youth teams, bringing young players in from other clubs to develop and buying in the odd finished article. All done through an astute manager who knows what he is doing. That is why we have no respect for what City and Chelsea have done in recent years.

I really think that you, rather like your manager, have finally lost it completely.

 Lads

is the the manchester war forum.

It seems you have all got intwined in the past and who achieved what and when.

As a Arsenal boy I would love to live in the past when the trophy cabinet doors were opened on a regular basis to put the silverware in, but I am afraid that the past does not make our current situation feel any better.

No striker, a defence that cant hold a lead and seems to concede far to often to decent teams.

Dave, Andy and the rest of you City boy you will have to accept that Europe again is a screw up and your boss cant seem to get his head around the CL and this year it looks like you wont even make it into the europa losers league.!!!! On the upside you will now be able to marshal all your vast expensive resources on an assult on domestic honours.

Dakey,Kev,Ged I applaud the way your side keeps winning without playing well (Arsenal game apart you thumped us far more than the score shows) early qualification will allow you some space to rest players and with City going out it will now be hard to compete with the extra game.

Must sign of with a small applause to the second side of N London so nice to see your manager play 442 and the result was well deserved even if the opposition was sub standard, would love to see him have the guts to play the same formation at City but we all know that spurs still see themselves as second stream and he he will resort back to 1 up front and try to nick a result.

Neil
