I cant help think there's a little fear in those arsenal bashing statements Dakey. It weren't that long ago when we regualarly had parites at old trafford!!
Arsenal have been United’s trickiest opponents since Alex Ferguson took over at Old Trafford in November 1986. The gooners have won 13 league fixtures against United in this period and collected 53 points, more than any other club and Arsène Wenger has been in charge for eight of these victories, including three at Old Trafford. This year in the league as I have said we have played abjectly aginst UTD and Chelski and have got the results we deserved but you were not able to beat us in the league at all last year with Rooney, Ronaldo and Teves. Over the last decade it is certainly us and no other team that runs you close on more times than not.
It's all boiling up nicely and I'm looking forward to another great week of football stating at 12.45 tomorrow. I'm sure we'll be in a battle against Wolves.
Finally this year has been the most costly for us in terms of injuries. 8 first choice players have been out for 2/3 months or more. I never realised how bad it was. Johan Djourou out for the season, Robin Van Persie out for the season, Sami Nasri broken leg 3 months, Kieran Gibbs broken foot out for season, Aaron Ramsey broken leg out for season, Nicklas Bendtner 2 months groin, William Gallas now out for the rest of the season, Cesc Fabregas out for rest of season, Theo Wallcott 2 months leg injury and now the little russian looks like he'll miss the end of the season as well. What ever the reason it seems the football gods have certainly been a little harsh on the gooners.
Anyways Happy Easter enjoy your eggs!

Jay, mate
I agree with you that Once United started winning the title in the early 90s Arsenal were our closest rivals[ and probably still would be if not for Abramovics vulgar wealth]. You even had the temerity to win the thing three times, one of them unbeaten. That is long gone now unfortunately. You have done nothing since you mugged us on pens at wembley 5 years ago when the supposed messiah of good football ruined the FA cup final by putting 11 men behind the ball for 120 mins then nicked it on pens after we had hit the woodwork 4 times. [I know, I have got a long memory]
I am not Arsenal bashing, I just think you need something else in your armoury to really compete for the big prizes. You have had some injuries, yes, but we have been without our first choice back 5 for a lot of the season and are still in there, look at the injuries Everton have had. you just have to get on with it. Can Wenger take you to the next level or do you need a change? What do you think?

Welcome on your first post. I'll be off to turf moor tomorrow. Hope you manage to stay up, just need a couple of wins to start creeping out. Most teams seem to have something to play for this year its a funny season. We need all three points tomorrow. Adebayor needs to start helpin out a bit more. What do you think Jay.

Have a good day up there lads, both teams with all to play for so could be a cracker as for Mr Can'thitabarndoor he has that lazy style ala Kanu but can also put a serious shift in when motivated like when we were at Eastlands. If he's up for it he's a serious handful and Burnley beware but in honesty I would prefer for city to make an impact without him as there's not much to like about him especially if your'e a gooner!
Dakey as for Arsene, he's done it before but us gooners just don't know if his plan will work. Getting a little closer to finals and championships but closer isn't really good enough now that we have a stadium to rival the best in the world. Our operating restictions have obviously had an effect but his attitude to 30 Million pound signings etc has been consistant and from a business model point of view we are inclined to all agree with him. UTD's and Liverpool's situation is a joke and morally disgusting. We have no sugar Daddy and nor do we want one!!!! If it means we come out 2nd/3rd due to this currnet unlevel playing field and Arsene's stubborness then we may accept it to a degree but not for long. However just because we are Arsenal it does not give us any god given rights to any success. I remember gaps from 71 to 79 from 79 to 87 for cup final wins and 18 years for a title win as well. It would do some us all well to remember that from time to time as arrogance is the worst of character traits and we can all get a little carried away sometimes!
By the way I bet you and Skell have got your names down for the UTD share issue coming up. It would be nice to carry this on at board level!!
Keep it coming, enjoy your footy lads UP the Arse!!

Right Fellas,
Lets see if I can spit this out without vomiting, congratulations Chelsea and Arsenal on your two wins today. There thats out of the way, now lets get down to brass tacks.
1] Evra gets pole axed with a deliberate elbowed to the face by Ballack, red card offence, what happens? Ref waves play on Chelsea go upfield and score, then go on to win the community shield on pens.
2] Fletcher wins the ball cleanly, refs decision foul, ball comes in from the free kick, Wes Brown is rugby tackled Terry heads home, refs decision, goal! 1-0 win to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
3] Ball played through, Drogba a country mile offside, Linesmans decision, onside, Result? winning goal.
Now call me paranoid if you like and I know everyone gets these type of decisions against them by these clown officials from time to time, but three times in three games costing us the game in all three instances is beyond a joke.
The thing will still go to the wire and if the saying is correct that these things even themselves out over a season then we must be due a few of them by now.
There, that is off my chest, now do your worst boys I am ready for it.
Cheers Dakey

Bad result was hoping for the draw, chelsea's to lose now me fears!!! Going to have to rely on the spuds and the scousers and nobody wants to rely on them to help you out.
Drogba miles offside but touch of "hands" in the utd goal probably levels it. Wolves were resolute and the fans were brilliant but we're a bit like athletes foot at the moment very tough to shift and just when you think we're gone we give ya a right itch!!
On that note I'm outta here.
All the best

Ahhhhhhh, I've watched and watched this thread for ages............
Scholes i can't tackle for shit (no change there then but excuse still being rolled out into an illustrious 15 year top flight career - he knows what he's doing, great player - i actually like him) hammers Deco from behind - blatant yellow, but ref doesn't dish it out.............. 10 mins later Scholes wild swing at Malouda - ref gives yellow card............ by then should have been a red card......... could have changed the game at that point.................. but he might not have swung at Malouda if on a yellow !
Penalties - Soft pen for manure not given, blatant pen for Chelski not given (Neville the lumbering old bloke on Anelka, the bloke whose not really arsed as he gets paid so much and can always move clubs to keep his brothers in a job)............. but the Chelski pen incident would not have happened if the Manure pen had been given as the game would have changed course............
On the whole I thought the Manure/Chelski refereeing performance by Dean was one of the worst for both teams I've seen in a long time. Time and time again blatant fouls just not given either way.......... no point fans having rose tinted specs on if the ref has no specs on
I stopped going 4 years ago after 25 years home and away........, wasn't a snap decision, but had been coming for some time as I'd got sick of the acting, feigning, hypocritical goings on on the football pitch, in my opinion the worst of the lot is not a foreigner but is Joe Cole, can't stand him, what an actor - worse than Drogba............ it annoys the hell out of me
Bizarrely my club is in its best position in donkeys years and yet football has become a sport full of cheats and actors, and yet none of these highly paid (there's the clue) administrators such as Brooking / Taylor who have played the game want to clean it up or come out with a way of stopping it............. empty seats now appearing everywhere - even at Manure (in cup games), only gonna get worse
And yet ................ i still watch it on TV ............ it still grips me , ............. but not going has bought my CDA apartment .......... it's a non-contest, and whilst still feeling for my club i now can watch the game from a more neutral point of view and enjoy or criticise every bit......... noticed there was not 1 bad tackle in the whole game between City & Burnley.......... can't remember that situation in years. If I'd been the Burnley manager then all 3 City forwards would have been kicked up in the air in the first 10mins..... poor management by Laws........... look back at Scholes today !
I'd love Arsenal to win it, just to put one over the teams with the blank cheque books (Manure, Chelski, Spuds & City) ...... I'd love a Notts Forest type team to come through and win the league again, just to shake it up, but money talks. 25 man squads and a salary cap will eventually happen, along with indigenous player quotas.......... they will eventually see that money is killing football, but it may need a big name to go under.
But then again, Cardiff, Swansea, Blackpool & Notts Forest pushing for the Prem......... makes it interesting again.
Still a City fan, but I'll be supporting Manure, Arse, Skiverpool & Fulham next week in Europe............then again ....
C'mon Bayern

Spainblade & fellas,
I have forgotten the injustices of incompetent officials already and have convinced myself that we will still nick it, even if I feel that any team that loses 7 games does not deserve it anyway. I am eagerly looking forward to the Champions league again and another debate comes to mind.
I am thinking of all the classic ties we have had already in the CL and we are still only at the quarter final stage. For the nostalgic few who still hanker and romanticise about the old European Cup format, I was reading a Scottish newspaper column during one of my rest periods on this lovely North Sea oil rig that I am currently stuck on and it had Celtics path to glory in 1967. as follows;
1st round; Zurich. 2nd round; Nantes. 1/4 final; Vojvodina. !!! ???. Semi final; Dukla Prague. Final; Inter Milan. Who is that little lot you might ask, but that pattern of opposition was broadly similar each year until the inception of the modern CL. I think that we are spoiled with the standard we now watch and I think that puts the argument to go back to how it was firmly to bed, so just sit back and enjoy!
Cheers Dakey

we sorely missed Arteta pulling the strings today but you have to give credit to the Hammers for battling away - Europre probably gone now for us .
May be a CL semi this year with no English representation - the boys at Sky will not like that !!!! (given the money they pump into the game !

Nice one shampers. Glen, we were very very good. A good time to for Adebayor to put in a performance. I think we can all agree something this season.....the match officials are having the worst season in memory. Ant well done to your lot, excellent celebrations from Darren Bent, chuffed for him. Its certainly not all over yet the big girl is still singing loud and clear. Everything to play for. Torres taken off today and Gerrards face spoke volumes bout the scousers. 6 games left 4 at home Trafford, Arsenal Villa and Spurs yet to play and we don't want to be condemming West Ham last game.

Jeb,
You are absolutely correct, Messi turns a very good team into a fantastic team because all those other good players play with the added confidence that he is inevitably going to produce something practically every game.
I have heard a little rumour that Barca have offered £10 million and Messi for Berbatov, what do you think? should we let him go for that or insist on more money
Cheers Dakey

yes Dakey what a cheek they have - ridiculous ! What you wouldn't give to still have Saha as back up - eh.
Mind you the possibility looms of no English team in the semis of the CL which would rock the hierarchy at the prem league never mind UTD - should be v interesting tonight especially if Roonaldo doesn't make an appearance !

Jeb,
There is definately a real possibility of no English teams in the Semis, how the mighty will have fallen! I presume that with UTD being the last survivors that everyone will be cheering us on, Is that the case? Citydave, Jay, Lewjesdan, spainblade ant and the rest of you.
One plus tonight is that bent incompetent officials from England cannot stitch us up like a kipper. If we get beat I will have to blame it on bent incompetent foreign officials!
