Dave,
Its ok swanning about in China, enjoying yourself smashing poor teams, but those Chinese have a lot to learn about designing Stadia, there was absolutely no protection from the sun, all the crowd were squinting!!...... Off to Majorca tomorrow to meet a bunch of old friends, another 2 week bender coming up

Dave,
Its nice to see a bit of business acumen going on down at the council house as well with the advent of financial fair play looming large. No signings yet this year, a sensible prudently priced bid for RVP, attempts to move on some of the vast array of over rated over priced and overpaid prima donnas on the books, All good stuff by Marwood whos responsibility is to get your team within the financial rules even to the point where he is in open warfare with the manager who is insisting that mega millions continue to be spent irrespective of any sanction from the governing bodies. Well done! No such common sense down at the bridge, whos lucky cup double has led to an explosion of spending of unearned income unparalled even in their recent thistory all paid for by the owner. It will be good to see them try and justify those amounts against actual club income!
Meanwhile, the old master continues to buy good young players at market prices out of our clubs earned income, with sensibly priced bids in for others. A master class lesson in how to manipulate the market and still compete at the highest level. You wont see us trying to move on overpriced players with no one else able or willing to pay the fee and wages and you wont see our top players queueing up to leave every summer unlike other so called top clubs. Anyway, going to enjoy the Olympics from some beach bar in Majorca, then down to the serious stuff and I for one cannot wait for it to all begin again.

well Fellas,
I dont usually post on pre season friendlies ( except when Utd win the thing and then its a trophy) but two things are abundantly clear from that crap today and they are that City cant win a game without the intervention of the referee sending off an opposition player and Chelsea confirmed just how lucky they were last year when 6th place flattered them. they have gone backwards. I cant see anything to bother Utd and Arsenal this year, it will be a nice little stroll for both of us.
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey, Love the referee's help ( or just the fact he was doing his job) We especially love "Fergie time"! Glad to see you have reduced your debt by £60mill, shame it cost £150mil to do so with the Glazers lining their pockets further. I hope you will soon realise that regardless of your great history and past (yes past) success, with your current owners your slide will continue further. Yesterday was just another friendly but as any game we would still want to win it, yourselves on the other hand winning it last year was your only silverware, I am sure that helped you sleep at night remembering the good ties. At least you have spent a few quid this year, hope you are not trying to buy the league? Enjoy the season Tony

Tony,
I see you have gone from not filling your own rented house to not filling Villa Park. Most genuine football fans of all clubs and especially after watching the supurb selfless athletes of all counties put on a splendid spectacle to packed stadiums over the last few weeks, will have been absolutely sickened by the fayre served up by both of our "bought, but otherwise mid table teams" yesterday. Clubs like you and Chelsea are the reason why our stadiums are half full and supporters are disillusioned with our beautiful game as they are continued to be squeezed for more money in an effort to keep up and pay the shameful wages of all these overpaid useless prima donnas. Having said all that, I am still looking forward to at least two major trophies coming back home this year. Clubs living beyond their means are temporary, Class is permanent!!
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey,
Last year I was ashamed to say that City did not sell their allocation of community shield tickets, however this year that is not the case so don't look to us to fill seats we are not permitted to buy, afraid you need to look to our friends in London for that honour, obviously they have been blessed with playing in their own back yard for so long and it was a bit of a culture shock having to leave the comfort of the M25.
In terms of value for money, you must have seen the latest reports on the cheapest football in the premiere league and that was at Eastlands, if there is anyone to blame for making the fans pay to line their own pockets read my last message! Just to reiterate City have no debt even if our owner walked away tomorrow which he clearly has no intention of doing.
Glad to see you have set your sights lower this season, a couple of years ago you would have been predicting to win four tropies. Alas I can again seeing you having a trophy less season.
Hope you do better than I think, the challenge is certainly not going to come from Chelsea, Liverpool or Tottenham - Arsenal may have it in their locker if they keep their one man defence fit.
Anyway, good the banter has commenced, can't wait till the weekend but will miss the first couple of games whilst out here on Condado!
Enjoy
Tony

You're on fire mate. Everything spot on. Was shocked to see 2 huge swathes of empty seats in the middle of the Holt end??
Enjoyed the performance. The score didn't reflect the superiority of our play
Dakey a few facts amongst your drivel would help to keep us interested.

Happy Blues,
Lets just sprinkle my post with a few facts as Dave requested. Firstly all sorts of teams have won one off league titles for whatever reason, the definition of a truely great team comes with two or three achievements. One is winning the european cup and more then once if possible. the other is not winning the league, it is retaining it the next season which is universally accepted to be much harder than the first win and thirdly bouncing back to win trophies after a blank season. Now, in the modern game there is only Utd and Chelsea that have achieved those three yardsticks and of the two utd have done it on a much grander scale. So yes, this is a landmark season for so many reasons, can City join the true greats by winning the league or CL? can UTD remain as a true great by bouncing back after a blank season and can the others rise to the challenge? So I would say to all you happy blues lets wait to see what the season holds before you lift yourselves up to the lofty heights that you aspire to. Remember the invincibles, the so called greatest ever team, they sank into obscurity by not winning the league the next year and have not won the league since or either the CL so they have not even achieved the bounce back from a blank season yet.
A note of caution, City, linked with every top player in the close season actually sign........Jack Rodwell!!!! Now do you really think that was Mancinis decision? the cracks are growing by the day in the running of your club.
Tony, you are beginning to sound like Dave "all those empty seats at all our games are nothing to do with us, its the other teams fans, we always sell our allocation" Come back from deluded land please, its beginning to sound boring.

The pleasure was all my mine mate hope to see ya again out there soon.
Neil thank's for the excellent service at the Clover it's an excellent pub now mate and those beers for last years prediction comp slipped down lovely. Skell and me right enjoyed em!! (HAPPY "BIG" BIRTHDAY NICK) x
What can I say CDA is rocking now. What a transformation in such a short time. It's the best time we've had there full stop. None of us wanted to leave!!! Roll on October, can't wait.
Dave you was lucky against us in the nest and we had all the play and with a little better finishing on our part the draw should of the been the result at worst.
I think we're shaping up nicely now and the way the way Arsene is handling the RVP has to be commended. Wouldn't it be nice if just for once a club would hold a player to his contract despite the the supposed large offers from the our competitors/rivals. We live in hope eh!!! Dakey do you really want an injury prone 29 year old??? It's a little bit deperate me thinks and he don't wanna go Citeh which is nice. We've made our fealings very clear to him on sunday afternoon in Germany so lets see where it goes?
I think we're best set for a season since prior to our move from Highbury and think that we may be the suprise package this year. We've actually spent excellently on three proven international class players to the tune of £36 million and with a little shifting of the dead wood (bendtner etc) could yet spend more. Our financially solvent method may now start to prove fruitful and nothing would give us Gooners more pleasure than that believe me!!!!
The countdown continues. The Mackems at home to start....let's go!!
Take Care All
Jay

Jay,
We got an injury prone 29 year old in michael owen and have just let him go after 3 years, so we have a place for another injury prone 29 year old. As you say, it is nice that a player doesnt fancy the bitters no matter what they try to throw at him so he has got the right character for us and by all accounts he wants it as well. Unfortunately it probably will not happen because we will not pay more than the going rate for someone with only months left on his contract and he can come then and get most of the money for himself. Also Wenger has said if Utd want him they will have to pay £5 mil more than anyone else. What is that about? Its the bitters that keep nicking your players, if he is miffed at anyone it should be them not us. Us properly run clubs should stick together against these bought and paid for mid table johnies.
Like you I am looking forward to the season with anticipation, We have made a couple of good young signings but more importantly we have Vidic and Cleverly fit again and Wellbeck signed up for 5 years. RVP would be the icing on the cake, but it would be to his benefit as we are going to get it back with or without him.
Agree with your comments about Condado, its a good place to holiday now and once our president and administrator sort out their problems it will be onwards and upwards.
