Ha ha thanks for that. I remember my mum telling me about when they all went up to Anfield in 1970 on the coach, all dolled up in their mink coats. Mansfield narrowly lost and the Kop applauded the team and the fans. On the way back down the M6, as the girls were swigging a bottle of creme de menthe (of all things) they realised they had left my aunty behind. The bus had to turn round and drive an hour back to Anfield, where she was ... stuck in the toilet.
Fantastic ... wish i had been there ...

Chaddy,
Yes, what a refreshing change.... a mansfield town fan who changed alliegience to a (once) big club. I think that is known as glory hunting, probably something like a Chadderton lad changing from Oldham to Man City..... Oh no sorry that would be going from a decent size club to a smaller club financed by someones money.
Any sign of Dave yet? A fellow bluenose who works out in the North Sea on our crew told me he had a good chat with him last week at a Mather & Platt reunion night so he is definately still alive and has not done anything silly, so thats a relief.

Ha ha what a load of rubbish! I have never changed allegiance, I was born in Mansfield but my dad was from Liverpool so we went to watch a lot of both matches. And since one team is in the Conference and the other in the Premier League, there seemed little chance of any ´conflict´ ...... until now ... Come on the Stags for the FA Cup.
So typical of a United fan to slag everyone else off .. lighten up Dakey boy, not everyone hates you LOL

Amatista,
I like to have the banter and its nice to have a part Liverpool fan stick his head above the parapet, but although I totally understand that being born in Mansfield of at least one Scouse parent you would want to perhaps keep your real identity secret, Amatista cannot be your real name, if we are going to have a bit of fun with the footie going forward then lets have a proper name to call you by.

Jeb,
How are you? A shade of blue that all football fans can identify with. Everton, eternally struggling with money problems but a severe test for anyone and do you know something, You have usurped Liverpool efficiently and quietly to become the major force on Merseyside and it has come from completely under the radar with practically no one mentioning it and certainly not yourself bragging about it. Long may it continue mate and well done for bringing back some respect to the colour of blue.

Well,
It looks like George & Co' are just like the bitters "We only sing when we are winning" brigade. I dont know what they expected with Rafa in charge though, that is 3 goes he has had at the World club cup (two with other managers teams) and lost the lot! A lot of people go on about Liverpools European record but the fact is they had FIVE goes at this World CC and lost the lot. In fact every single attempt by English clubs have hit the buffers...... except, you have guessed it, 2 by UTD. We have won it twice, in both its formats and that Chelsea fans gives you the right for 12 short months to call yourselves the best team on the planet and thats why your players were crying tears of frustration. To read the press, because they lost it appears to be because they didnt take it seriously... WHAT! how do these journalists actually get a job in the press? If they did not take it seriously WHAT WERE THEY ALL CRYING BUCKETS ABOUT!

cheers Dakey, it's a strange old season, with the middle pack really scrunched up. We're currently 6th which in previous seasons we'd be happy with but it seems almost a disapointment right now. Too many draws though in some of those we were robbed or simply gave the two points away too cheaply. Got to hope Moysey gets a few bob to spend in Janaury, maybe by selling Hettinga and maybe another striker or creative midfielder will give us the impetus for the second half of the season and I hope our usual strong finish. Fourth spot does seem to be up for grabs this year and I really don't see Spurs or Arsenal much better than us, and we'll finish above that other red team again this year no doubt about that. Fellani being out (deservedly so) may be a blow but I hope someone else will step up top the plate and deliver points over ther holiday period. I have to say Mirallas looks a class act but I was so impressed by Jelavic and his movement- he plays right on the shoulder of the last defender and must be a nightmare to mark.
Utd meanwhile go marching on and Fergie's judgement on RVP was spot on - he will be the difference I think between utd being fairly ordinary compared to previous utd sides and where you are now. Will be interesting to see how far you go in the CL; experience and Fergie will get you so far but the German teams look strong this year along with the usual suspects from Spain. Who would you like to see come in when Fergie calls it a day ? Big shoes to fill !
Hammers next up - need the three points ................

Hey Kev,
When are you going to get over City's business plan? You have spent the money over the years and reaped the rewards, shame you sold out to the Glazers, I know which Backers I would rather have so don't knock it!
UTD are managing their business well aren't they? Making great profits as one of the so called big clubs then using it to satisfy their huge debts. I bet the fans are really satisfied as to where their gate money is going. Signing of RVP was a masterstroke from Taggart but he is hardly one for the future and will just keep you treading water. UTD are weak in depth and over the next few years are going to have to invest significantly, only problem is Mr Glazer does not have the money.
Remember City's losses only lasted 24 hours as the day after they were transferred into capital. Yes we have to play catch up and the first couple of years of doing so has shown some reward and at significant cost, so what. Money does not buy success - it just helps!!!
Enjoy
Tony

Chaddy,
This is the knockout stage of the CL - of what possible interest is it to you and how do you feel qualified to comment?
Great draw - should be a good match between two struggling sides!

Chaddy,
No need to be offensive to me, I hadnt even passed comment yet and anyway what have you got against clowns?
Now I will comment though, There is no way on earth that we will be humiliated by a spanish mid table outfit, unlike yourselves who were humiliated by spanish german and dutch mid table outfits. We will breeze past Real and then anyone else that is put in front of us and I wouldnt write off Arsenal or Celtic either at this stage as both have shown something on a shoestring that your overrated over paid numpties have not shown and that is plain old roll up your sleeves BOTTLE!! I wouldnt try to stop you posting as we all like a good laugh now and again and it was always going to see you revert back to bitter mode once the pack of cards started to come tumbling down.
