Neil,
If you spent time with Dave Roy then you will have been cocooned in his little blue bubble, I know you cant be everywhere but let me tell you, when the bitters are at home, the blue pubs around the city are empty as everyone is at the match trying to fill the place. When Utd are at home not only is the ground full, the city centre and suburban pubs are also jam packed, in fact the pubs are packed whether Utd are home or away. I was in my local on sunday and as it used to be a meeting place of a branch of Man City supporters club there are more than the usual contingent of blues go in there. On Sunday there was not one single city fan in, the landlord explained that they were all at the game. That is what I am talking about, they are either in the pub or at the match, there is not enough of them to do both!! Come up when Arsenal play Utd and do the same as last sunday and you will see the difference. Trust me.

Dave may be blue to the core but makes honest appraisals of what he sees and know body can not call him a true supporter as he misses few games home and away.
My observations were reached all on my own so why are their not loads more Utd shirts around town when I was their for 5 hours.
Utd did not dominate the pub I was in Sunday either, so all these fans appear in Manchester only when Utd are playing at home.... strange cause the aint their the rest of the time. And thats what I saw.
The reason that the pubs are probaly full on matchdays is that all the people inside OLD trafford have just got of the trains and PLanes and boats from London / Birmingham / Dublin and all the other places that they converge from on matchdays. So in short utd fans from manchester in pubs as they dont go to the games as the ground is full of outsiders.
Dakey you should concentrate on the footie as you side are getting away with it at the moment ant City are not.
ps
It has been rumoured that stamford bridge is to be turned into an ice rink that way they will have a good excuse as they keep falling over!!!!!

Neil,
It is only good manners to big up your host for the weekend, so even though over 50,000 locals pack old trafford every game as well as our further afield friends and the packed pubs, I will bow to your misguided show of loyalty........Anyway cant stay on much longer, I am still laughing at Villa smashing the bitters in a half empty ground, how the hell did that shower win the league? I wonder who mancini will blame for this one?

I know wolves werent very good but you have to admit the european champions were a tad impressive yesterday. Tougher test saturday though and its a shame that captain leader legend will be banned by the fa and unable to play. just hope cahill can step up to the plate.

Fellas,
Fans from far afield dont usually travel to midweek games and especially midweek carling cup games where usually squad players get a chance. Hence the majority of the crowd for these games are locals. I think that is a widely accepted fact and that is why our morally deficient clubs last night posted abysmal gates for their respective ties.
Now, without the benefit of hindsight, I will make an educated guess that tonight the gate at OT will be around 55,000. this will be made up of a couple of thousand fanatical geordies, around 50,000 locals that we get for every home game and a couple of thousand other Utd fans who will make the long trips regardless. Watch this space fellas, oh and by the way Neil, the pubs will also do a roaring trade as well. It Knocks the pathetic 28,000 at the gold plated council house last night into a cocked hat and even that pathetic turnout will be in peril if the perpetual spankings carry on!!

fair play to Leeds, they were decent we were rubbish - the guys who got their chance let us down big time and half of them just did not turn up - No Ossie or Hibbo in the side, they would have made a difference IMHO

Packed to the rafters at our gaff apart from at the Woodbiners end but fair play they brought about 8000 down. They packed the lower tier but only half filled the upper tier allocated to them. Made a racket though so big respect to them they enjoyed the day as much as they could. Our kids were hot tonight and there's a nice little atmosphere building down the Grove now. One to watch Genabe who looks a real prospect. Bring on the chavs Saturday morning. Nice draw for next round by the way Lol!! Jay

chaddy,
I overestimated it a bit but 46,000 to watch the youth team is still some turn out, beats the crap out of barely 20,000 to watch most of your first 11 get slaughtered by Villa, who by the way had just been mullered by Southampton. I will make another prediction, there will be the usual 75,000 there to watch us go top this weekend against Spurs ,then no one will catch us this year. The gunners will smarten up the other falsely positioned blue tripe on saturday and by the way George put out your first team against our kids next round to give yourselves a chance.
Just to finish, 58,000 at the emirates playing a lower division team, the best crowd for a game of that type since our 73,000 against non league Crawley a couple of years ago. A top turn out Jay and Neil for a proper football club, well done. Now keep it up against the blue slime on saturday and remember, if you are not red you are better off dead!!
Cheers, Dakey

Dave,
I dont praise them to be liked or accepted by them, our rivalry was one of the most fiercely contested rivalrys in sport and I hope we get back that intensity, not because I like them, but because I respect the way they go about business..... now that brings me nicely on to georges point about respect. I have no respect for Chelsea or City for that matter as they are both punching well above their natural weight by using their owners money to compete at a level that their respective clubs cannot achieve on their own merits. So there is no respect and can never be any respect till you start earning your success. The few trophies that you will both inevitably win over the years will mean absolutely nothing to football fans outside of your little blue bubbles. I hope that has cleared it up for you mate, now go away and concentrate very hard on trying to actually take advantage of your massive financial backing .....and win A GAME!!!!

George You can't go round buying up everything and expect respect. You just don't get it do you. I've tried to explain to you that nobody respects what you have done and therefore it's pointless. Jay
