Jay, Yes it was a great STAND ALONE achievement and nobody can take it away... But they will not go down as a great side because we came back a year later and took it back like we always do. If you cant retain a title you have no right to claim greatness, simples.
Winning the treble in 99 is the greatest ever achievement by an English club and that had never been done before or since, what I am saying now is that if this present team and its a big if, goes on to win the league by a record ever margin and a record ever points total with a record EVER number of wins it will be right up there with both your and our previous achievements. Your teams have not underperformed, a lot of other teams have improved to make the league more competitive than ever.
Just a final point on being a one man team, RVP has not scored for over 10 league games, in that time we have increased our lead at the top, someone must be doing something to win games.
Chaddy, have a little word with yourself. If we keep winning jammy 1-0 how come we have scored miles more goals than you and have a massive goal difference advantage? something doesnt quite add up there mate.
Nothing like a Utd defeat to bring everyone back out going hammer and tongs, eh fellas.

Robin van greedy has been knackered out by the responsibility it's no wonder he ain't scoring no more. The points difference in recent months is more down to citeh's ineptitude than to your dominance. Other teams may have raised their game a tad but the Gunners Citeh and Chelski have certainly not in the league this season otherwise you'd be out of all knock outs and sweating on the title a lot more than you are. Chelski's lunatic owner sabotages himself nearly every year one way or the other just so he can prove to everyone that little chelski are his plaything alone! If Citeh had Jose in charge or a better manager this year they'd be probably giving you what for. Either way I don't care but don't be deluding yourself that your current crop are in the same league as your 99 team or anywhere near the Gunnnes side of 2004 otherwise I will have to seriously reconsider your credentials as a sane minded football fan. No one loved that 99 team more than me, but it gets a bit boring that the present team having won the league and CL double in 2008 and soon to be 5 titles and 2 runners up in 7 years are always classed as not really very good and its the failure of other teams not our own efforts, thats fine if you want to carry on kidding yourself. One thing to remember about that great 99 team as well as being good they were also damned lucky, We won the league in the last game of the season right to the wire and I dont have to remind you of your last minute penalty miss in the FA cup Semi and also the dramatic CL finish masked the fact that Bayern battered us. It proves my point that you need luck in cup football among other things.
RVP isnt scoring anymore because he is close to winning his first silverware and he is nervous and snatching at things. Once he gets that particular monkey off his back he will be able to sustain it for a full season like the rest of our championship winning squad. Dont worry Jay the other players will see him over the line. (thats if Fergie picks him off course and thats by no means certain with some of his selection gaffes)

What a season it might be to remember - United win the PL by the biggest ever margin, Swansea win the League Cup and Wigan the FA Cup? I think a few teams need to stop and take a good look at themselves rather than their opponents.

Like I said Kev and I'm glad you agree a very piss poor performance this year by all. Everybody has laid down and died making it far too easy for a mediocre utd. Lets hope next season the competition can mount a more serious campaign and then a truer picture will be revealed eh? Jay

19 other premier league teams and countless others would disagree with that. Thing is there's been no competition this year which must sour it a bit unfortunately for you lot. There's no fun winning things when there's no challenge is there???? Still one day you may win the league when there is competition and you may be able to do it unbeaten.... Ganging up on me eh. I hardly think losing the league on goal difference can be classed as folding like a pack of cards. That would be the description I would use to describe a team that finds itself 15 points behind after spending a fortune or even another team who win the league unbeaten then go nine long years battling like billyo to finish fourth every year. Now that is what I would call folding big style, certainly not for a team closing in on its THIRTEENTH, yes, thats right THIRTEENTH league title in little over 20 years.
The phrase 'different planet' springs easily to mind.

That's more like it. A tightly contested campaign with the eventual winners just nicking it by the thinnest of margins. Exciting and dynamic way to win a title even it meant that Citeh bought it in the end which I could never condone. My point is winning by too big a margin is not an example or indicative of how great a team is if the opposition throughout the season have not managed to muster a challenge between em. It's shame that's happened I suppose and it's certainly not utd's fault but its certainly not to be celebrated. Maybe you could win it next year by a point or two even but it would be better for all involved if the league was more competitive. I think a lot would have to happen to the others for that to materialise and from a Gooners point of view I live in hope.

I dont know about you Jay, but it is certainly to be celebrated where I come from. Thats like saying Arsenal shouldnt have celebrated going unbeaten because the rest are culpable for not beating them. My point is that you cant just state that someone isnt worthy just because others have not been able to stop them. Give credit where due.

I dont want to talk about football any more, the anger is coming back and its BENT!! That average Utd team who were controlling the game against Real after over 1 1/2 games before being robbed now have to sit back and watch that same team get away with a head high studs up tackle to the head while looking directly at the opponent and not even a yellow card!! The challenge was 10 times worse than Nanis attempt for the ball. I feel like doing someone in, I wish I was in a cell with Mick Phillpott!!

At the end of the day Dakey Lad the Ref is always right and he does his job fairly and gives what he thinks is right at the time!!
It is bitter and twisted individuals like you that drive refs away from the game and without them where would the game be eh??
