Hi Dakey, haven't posted for a while, but enjoying your banter, as a supposed southern red! Some unbelievable misses, Ramires, Rooney, Berbatov, but Torres was the cream of the crop! Any message for George? He is staying at my place next week - oh what fun! Ted

Hi Ted,
Nice to hear from you again, be gentle with George he must be stinging after that. We got the benefit of a decision or two but isnt it good to have a team ethic that says go on then you score a couple and we will get more. Dave, that is what fills stadiums!
just to end, I thought I had seen it all, but Dowd tops the lot. It appears that you can get away with a studs up flying tackle in the area with only a yellow card instead of a red one. that is bad enough, but if you are so late in the tackle that the victims shot has travelled out of play then it is not a penalty! Amazing interpretation of the rules. The sooner that utter buffoon is carted off to the funny farm the better for all of us!

Dowd is the worst. Do you remember the decisions he made at St James last year against the gooners. We capitulated but he literally gave them two goals. Probably the worst ref in the league. Chelski did create a he'll of lot chances yesterday. A team in form with good strikers would trouble utd more. I still think the defence although looks full of potential is weaker than I've seen recently. There's a long way to go but we're out of it. I think top 6 would be an over achievement right now. Surprised at liverool currently they were abject yesterday and made spurs look strong. October 2nd is looming and I bet the adebayor lovers are rubbing their hands in anticipation. Jay

Jay,
You are correct that the defence looks collectively weaker, but I think most of that is down to Smalling, Jones and Evra bombing forward at every opportunity and also playing two out and out wingers as well as two strikers and two attacking midfielders then something has to give somewhere. Personally I much prefer allowing the opposition some chances but relying at the same time on simply out gunning them. It definately makes better viewing than defending deep and trying to nick a winner as per Mancini style. We have had a few class teams down the years, but it is a long time since us reds were so excited about the potential of a set of players as we are with this bunch.
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey,
Does look like the Manchester teams are in form alright. I still wouldn't write-off Chelsea but even at this early stage it does look like Arsenal, Spurs, and Liverpool will be chasing the 4th spot.
Watched Spurs take apart Liverpool and thought Liverpool were muck. In saying that was impressed with Parker, Adebayor, and of course King. I don't know how he does it...apparantley does a bit of a run out the day before the game to see if he's upto the game but otherwise no training. Of course can break down at a drop of a hat so the sooner Gallas and Dawson are fit the better.
I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs won something this season (not the league) as they have a stronger squad than ever. But the teams from Manchester are flying this season....the big difference from last season is that the football is enjoyable to watch.
Hopefully the standards don't drop.

Shane,
Now things have settled down, Spurs look to have a nicely balanced squad and could well challenge Chelsea for third place.
Interesting article just been aired on Sky sports, City are asking for planning permission to build a large training complex next to Eastlands with 15 training pitches to develop a world class academy, also included in the plans is a 7,000 seater arena...... Looks like they will be returning Eastlands to the council then and will play in this new arena, which is just about the right size for them to fill it!

Don&Kerry,
Go easy on the scousers, they are a bit fragile ay the moment. It shows how things can change quickly in football. Who would have thought in the early 90s less then 20 years ago when leeds pipped us for the league and sold us the useless Cantona for a million quid, that we could send a second/third string team to a half filled Elland road and win without breaking sweat. Did you see the gaps in the crowd? bloody hell, if they lose any more fans they can rename the ground Eastlands/Etihad!

Dakey, lads and lasses
I'm off to New Zealand on Monday for 3 weeks to see Scotland beat England and then terrorise either France or the All Blacks in the Rugby. Maybe not though so don't put too much money on it.
I'll keep reading Dakey's waffle, nonsense and drivel wating for a time that anything with any meaning or sense suddenly jumps out of one of the ridiculous rants.
Enjoy Condado Dakey, I believe the weather is still great

Alright folks
Thought that Brighton were amazing last night and very unlucky to go out, they are definitely the team to watch in the championship and if they carry on playing like that promotion will be a formality.
On another note I was personally delighted to see Owen Hargreaves come back and play well + score a great goal. I've always rated him as player since I first saw him play for Bayern which seems like ages ago now. Lets hope he has properly recovered he's real talent, Dakey you might just regret letting him go..you never know.
Positive for the gooners with the lad from southampton producing a really exciting performance. I have not been so impressed since I saw jack wilshire 4 years ago. Oxlade Chamberlain has the pace of walcott and the potential power and skill of rooney which is a great combination. Wenger's comments in the press confrence seemed like a man in charge and not bothered by the mad speculation circling him currenlty. However our form not just this season is not good and no one is beyond reproach, he simply must sort out our newly assembled defence quickly and hope that two of our most influencial players return from injury asap. Bolton on Saturday will be a test even though their form of one win in ten echoes ours, all to play for. It's still only september but if by the 3rd of October we have 10 points then I will be very happy after this awful start.

Jammy jammy jammy jammy leeds!!!!!
Why cant we play 1st half like we do after Gus gives us a bollocking at half time??? Surely a good captain can do that job on the pitch during 1st half?

Well done stoke. Title race wide open again. Man u very luck to grap all 3 points last week with 2 offside goals but looks like their luck ran out this week with rooney and the tex mex injured. Chelsea unlucky to lose torres for 3 pl matches just aftern he started to hit form since he changed his hair colour but drogba aint a bad replacement.

George,
Its going to be a corker of a title race........ Between Utd and City, although I think you will be too strong for the rest in the chase for CL spots.
Just a little point though and I dont usually like moaning about injuries as all clubs have to contend with their fair share, but seeing as how everyone cited Arsenals missing eight players as the reason they got thumped at O/T. We have now had 13 players out injured from a 25 man squad in the first 7 weeks of the season with a big percentage being our top players. What will we be like if we get everyone fit and available? We did get the rub of the green last week with a couple of tight offside decisions, but we did not get a couple of nailed on penalties and then another one on Chico yesterday, so these things tend to even themselves out eventually.
Got to be pleased with the start though as I feared the worst when the fixtures came out as it was a tough old start on paper.
Cheers, Dakey

Chelsea are lucky its only Torres out for 3 games - Cole should have seen red last week as well. I suspect they'd miss Cashley much more than they'll miss the 50m flop! Talking of grannies, most grannies could have put in that chance he missed last week. Still LOL!
Stoke did well yesterday - we should have had a couple of pens but they had some good chances and played well. You've got to admire clubs that make the very best of what they've got compared to others that don't live up to expectations. They've done a great job there and seem to be building well for the future.

Mind you rooney did miss a couple of sitters- The penalty miss was funny! Man u havent had a tough away pl game and they struggled at benfica.
Lets see how good they are in their next 3 pl games asuming of course the ref isnt in their pocket again!
