Well Fellas,
Are we finally seeing a little chink in the armour of the mighty Barca? beaten by Celtic and now a hard working organised but average Milan have turned them over, albeit with the help of a diabolical missed handball by the ref. Whose bright idea was it to give a match of that magnitude to an official who plies his trade in the Scottish league? Thats like asking Man City to compete in the thing, its never going to happen is it. Things can change in a heartbeat in football as we all know but at this moment it is a toss up between Bayern and Utd if they can stay apart in the draw...... Whoops, getting ahead of myself again we have not got past Real yet. Will I ever learn?
Dakey
PS, did you see Balotelli laughing and joking and partying in the crowd? Is that the same player who never cracked a smile at his last club in a place he hated. Mind you, if I had just been released from that half empty rented hell hole in East Manchester then I think I would be partying like its 1999 as well. Remember, "the blue moon is capsizing"

It's not just a chink - Barca are OUT. If they get through that tie now I'll take my hat off to them and they will fully deserve it.
Looking forward to the weekend now. Hopefully we will help consign that bunch of folders that capitulated in the final seconds of the season to the Championship and then.... it's not often I say this but COME ON CHELSKI!

Kev,
I would be rooting for Chelsea as well, but not that fussed to be honest. They are both that far back you could almost combine their points totals and you would still need the hubble telescope to see them coming up behind!
As Chelsea and Milan have shown, if you keep Messi relatively quiet (easier said then done) and ride your luck but stay strong and resolute, then they are definately beatable. The problem for Barca is that if their plan A is not working they resort to....plan A! They dont appear to have an alternative which every team needs from time to time.

Jakey,
Cant see the point of your comparison, Sir Alexs achievements in overcoming the old firm and winning a european trophy with Aberdeen got him his chance in the English League. Appointing an official that no one has heard of from a second rate league to take charge of a game of that magnitude was madness and it showed in his performance. Every ref is told that if players have their hands in unnatural positions then it is handball plain and simple. Now when the ball struck that Milan players hand both his arms were above his head. That may be a natural arm position for a French or Italian soldier but certainly not a footballer, so to allow that goal is nothing short of criminal. Big game refs are needed for big games, that is why Mr Webb and Mr Clattenberg are appointed to most of ours!

So,
Mancini reckons we are lucky eh? Not nearly as lucky as a small insignificant club attracting a mega rich owner to fund a level of football at an artificially high level!
The talk from the Emptihad is that half the squad are being dispensed of and the squad rebuilt with mega £50 million signings. Have they learnt nothing from past mistakes? half the squad will just sit tight on inflated wages as no other clubs will pay either the wages or the transfer fee that City require. So there cant be any mega signings under FFP as the wage bill is already too high. The next time the league will be up for grabs for anyone will be the season after next as the history of the premier league tells you that other clubs(with the exception of Chelsea, once) win the league once and dont retain it only when Utd become complacent and drop their standards momentarily. The fact that these single title wins are sandwiched between Utd titles and we usually win it two or even three times on the bounce after losing it paints a bleak picture for everyone else and that is just the way it is my friends, perhaps until Fergie retires in about 10 years time.
Cheers, Dakey

Dakey,
I wonder if you can answer a question I'm struggling with...
A few weeks ago Mancini stated that City were the best team in the PL. Last week he stated that he was the best manager. So the best team managed by the best manager find themselves 12 points behind us going into the final furlong. How can this be?
I'm waiting for him to declare that Michael Laudrup is the best manager over the last 6 months (as he is the only one to have won a trophy).
The guy has lost it big time - he isn't thinking straight. The sooner he goes back to Italy to join the other looney City sent over there recently the better.
Chavvy - Well done for sticking at it - the rest of your blue mates have crawled back under that rock they'd spent the previous 34 years under until last year. Guess they'll not emerge for a while.

Kev,
To win the league we have to hold off the challenge from the current champions and the current european champions. To win the CL we have to defeat the in form most successful european club of all time and that is to just progress to the next round. To win the FA cup we have to defeat the current cup holders who just happen to be the current european champions and then waiting for us we will probably have the league champions waiting for us next and that is after drawing premier league opposition in every round. Looking at that little lot any talk by the media of possible trebles is a bit premature to say the least, but we can but dream of it cant we? Whatever happens, the performance of the team up to now has all but silenced the previously vociferous opposition on this forum, as bat and balls have been taken in all over the place!

Bottom line is only one club have ever managed the treble and, this season, there is only one club that can still do it.
Please add Rafa to my list of managers that have finally gone off their rockers. I can picture him sitting in a rocking chair in the asylum with his friends Mancini and Arsene.

Its sometimes difficult to compare eggs with eggs, but one snippet of news caught my eye today that says it all about the difference between a big club and a pretend big club. Tickets for the Utd v Real match are touting for over £1,000 such is the demand when the most successful european club of all time are in town...... or so you would think. In a match against the same opposition a couple of miles across town a couple of months ago a paltry 45,000 turned up at the Emptihad in a match crucial to the bitters CL ambitions. I have nothing to add fellas, that just about sums it up in a nutshell!

also,
the fat spanish waiter says he should be judged on results not his Liverpool history. When he took over Chelsea were 5 points behind Utd and still in the CL, WCC and League Cup. they are now 19 points behind and out of all three mentioned cups....... You have been judged Rafa.... Abject failure!!

I have to say that we have now hit a new low! Tottenham are at best a very average side and if the arsenal can not muster more than one proper shot/header on goal against em it says more about us than it does against them. We are shit and going into today's game we were only 4 points behind them and now we are 7 points behind. 1.5 billion would sort it out but not for me. God forbid that happens because if it does we'll be no more worthy a side than the other mortgaged or sugar daddy owned mobs. As soon as it happens my tickets will be hooked out to the touts and I'll coin it In the same way that the owners of our clubs are touting us!!

If we ever sink to the bottom of the pan you'll know because you'll see us as your already there.
Looks like the power has shifted to Utd and the lilywhites in North London. I suspect the power may also be shifting back to the red scousers on Merseyside.

When and if Sp*rs actually win something of any note then Kev you might be able to say something as inane as that. 15 years of non stop qualification for the CL on the meagre amounts of money spent compared to your bank of USA mortgaged mob and the sugar daddy boys is nothing short of remarkable. One swallow don't make a summer and if as is likely arsenal don't quite get there this year then it might be just what we need and a wake up call that things need to change. There's 10 games left with 30 points available so everything to play for although its going to be a big ask now. Jay

Jay,
Take Bale out of that side and they would be fighting Aston villa to keep their place in the league. in the last 5 or 6 years you have been hamstrung by paying for the ground and we have been handicapped by paying massive interest payments to our yank owners. The difference is that Fergie has managed it superbly and Wenger on the other hand has forgotten how to win things. I think it is time for a new broom at your club mate, what do you think?
Chaddy,
Saying we wont win the two cups is nearly as daft as me saying we will win the treble. It was shown in 99 that as well as having a good team you also need a large helping of luck at the right times. Something like you have had in keep drawing lower league opposition at home! If we win the FA cup it will be well deserved as we have faced premier league teams in every round so far so we will have to do it the hard way and what will you have to say tomorrow IF and I mean IF we beat the team that has just spanked the best team ever twice in a week. Will you, like your stupid idiot of a manager come out and say we are just a lucky team!

It looks like all that money you' have spent has got you some influence with the officials - a foul before you scored and then a stonewall penalty denied for Villa. Very lucky but will your plonker of a manager admit it?
Dakey
For once we'll have to disagree. Arsenal are going down the tubes and only a change at the top will halt that however blindly Jay wants to ignore it. No backbone. Open your eyes.
Now for the big game tomorrow. I'm sure everyone will be wishing the only British team with any hope of the CL well. Whatever happens we'll play with passion and skill - more than most can say this year. This message was last edited by kev1 on 04/03/2013.
