Chaddy,
Mathematically you could still finish 5th so don't count your CL chickens yet. I'm not sure why you're bothered anyway - at least if all the others qualified they may be able to get past the group stage. You could concentrate on spending all that money more wisely.

Chaddy First half you were the better team.... Second half you were not even a team.. Gave up running.. Gave up trying....gave up tackling...... Gave up full stop...... Stats say a lot Man U won the league on away form head and shoulders above all others... End off year report on all else can do better.. But pride must make all professionals play to the end of each game and the season... Neil

Dakey Kev Ged and Nick Well done congrats to you ......enjoy. You have walked it!! It's up to the rest of us to raise the standard and at least give you a better challenge next year. Tonight told a story to me that I could of written in August. You were short a player last year and fergie sorted it. A very wise buy and as much as it pains me RIPs decision is vindicated. Have a beer on me or I'll see ya for one in the clover hopefully in July!! ;) Jay

As many of you have said this maybe not the best United side in recent years (my personal favourite was the class of 94') but the stats don't lie at the end of the day. This team can only improve, with the younger players only going to get better...De Gea, Rafa, Cleverley, Wellbeck, Jones, Smailing, even Hernandez, Kagawa...all under 24. The wider players have been a disapointment this season if I am being picky -Young misses too many match's & spends too much time on the floor, Nani inconsistent & Valencia has ran-out of ideas........but the great man is already on the case, Zaha already signed-up & maybe a couple more on the way.
Have we seen the start of a new long term role for Rooney in midfield? Personally I hope so, as Scholes has still not been replaced & Fergie has plenty of striker options. One big signing - a winger or midfield player or both & we will be ready to have a go again next term. I am sure it will be more competative next term when the Arabs & Russians splash more cash about, but for now just enjoying the moment.
Pleased RvP discovered his touch again, the 2nd last night is one of thoses you can watch over & over again, but I am not forgetting his glarring misses in the Bernabau & at the Bridge in the cup replay, which has prevented this season being really special. His drought came at such a critical time. Maybe a lesson for the great man their I think...did he over play him in the earlier part of the season in some minor games..? No point having a big squad unless you use it. However........lets not get too critical at this time. 1 Trophy a season is always Fergies target, and once again the objective was achieved
Cheers for now
Nick

Nick Good points and you are right but if you hadn't had played RIP in those minor games you probably wouldn't of got the points you did in that early season spell because he was often the difference as the stats prove mate. Jay

Jay,
Everyone has been vindicated, Fergie for splashing out so much on a 29 year old, RVP for choosing Utd over money resulting in him winning his first league title and Wenger for telling Fergie when the deal was done that he is even better than we think he is. Yes, he had a dicky spell as all strikers do but with the service that the likes of Giggs and Rooney and Carrick provide then that was never going to last for too long. He has been a fantastic signing, even one at this stage that could go on to rival the Cantona signing, but we can only see that with the passage of time. One thing I will say though as we chase down various statistical records in the last four games, one record we already have is the number of goalscorers in this current squad at 19. no league campaign EVER! has produced 19 separate goalscorers for anyone and that nails the myth that we are a one man team completely.

No team is a one man team apart from sp*ds but you can't say that the signing was pivotal and absolutely crucial to your campaign success this year. To disagree with that would be insane. RIP continued on from the previous 18 months form that he showed with us. Had be been fully fit for the previous 7 years I wonder if our campaigns would of not provided more. Them's the breaks for us currently but that won't go on forever. Jay

Jay,
He has carried on his form from the last 18 months, but that 18 months brought him sweet FA and that is why he made his mind up to move. The fact that he chose to go with a set of players who have an history of winning everything gave us a very potent mix, but that is what the great man is so good at, re structuring his team on a regular basis with the same end result. Lets hope he retains his health for a good few years yet as we have so much more to achieve.

Today the world seems a happier place, excellent night last night, great atmosphere, still got a sore head, partied till the wee small hours, nice to have our trophy back and couldnt be happier, would have settled for this at start of the season, the league is the bread and butter however feel we have been a little unlucky in the cups and should have taken our chances against Chelski first leg and both the Madrid games.
Jay- Thanks mate, will hunt you down in July so we can enjoy a few cold ones and put the season to rights. Not doing Arsenal next week mate otherwise would have caught up with you then (£62 refuse to pay it).
Nick- Agree with everything you say- I said about putting Rooney in midfield before the start of the season, to me that would save a fortune on a new midfielder, defo one of the wingers is offski and my money on Nani, also think Ando, Lindegard are offski too, Nick Powell will get a lot more first team action next season (shame he got injured and was out for 3 monhs)
Bye the way Gents a HAPPY ST GEORGE'S day to you all.

My head has just about cleared enough to think I'm going to enjoy watching the battle for CL spots and the CL semis with no pressure. I do think a few teams are going to come back stronger next year but so will we - a fascinating close season in prospect!

Kev,
I love CR7 but I cannot bring myself to watch the CL anymore this year as Madrid have our rightful place and shouldn't even be there. It is obvious to anyone that there is only one team in Europe that could challenge the mighty Germans and that's Utd and it was taken away from us by a bent ref.
