Jay,
I was going to post that if Rooney wanted to win trophies he should enter a fat, ugly, useless tosser competition, however in light of todays events I will keep my council.
I think he wanted to go to Chelsea but when it became clear that the unprincipled shameless 'Bitters' were favourites to sign him he phoned up Fergie and offered to sign for 5 years for nothing.
Make sure you turn up this week and give them a slapping.
Cheers Dakey

We'll do our best but after today's monkey business, i just feel that football is in such a sorry place. Well done for keeping hold of him but at what price eh??? A club like yours should not be put in that position. Player power has gone miles too far and their pay makes me physically sick. Another nail in preverbial I'm afraid.
Have a good weekend boys and girls.
Jay

Nice one Jay, top drawer performance. Now you have just got to repeat that against one of the top teams and people will start to take the Gunners seriously again.
Dave, mate what can I say? Oh deary deary me. Bit of a rash tackle for the sending off, I will see if Sir Alex will send Gary Neville round to give your defenders lessons in timing slide tackles!
Another eventful week passes, Still unbeaten approaching November, Wolves and Spurs coming up, with the 'bitters' fast approaching on the horizon, bring it on, cant wait.

Dakey, I'm looking forward to the Spurs v ManU game. Think it'll be interesting for both teams. From a spurs viewpoint I think we have a reasonable chance of grabbing some points.
I'm realistic about our chances in the league. We could compete with the top teams but for a couple of key points. We are not clinical up front and we always switch off at the back at some point in the game. In saying that we have an exciting and creative midfield with the likes of Bale, VDV, Modric, Lennon etc which makes the games well worth watching.
I think it will be a good test to see if we can create chances against one of the more well organised defences around....although they do seem to be letting in a few more goals than normal (lets hope that continues).
Saw a bit of the City v Ars game. Both teams played some nice footy for the 20 minutes I saw. In saying that Arsenal nearly always play very watchable stuff so no real surprise there. But the more I see of City the more I think they are the team of the next few years.
Funniest thing I read was Roman A calling for a salary cap...although I think his idea of a salary cap would be far different to those of the people who have suggested one in the past.

SMV,
Got to agree that UTD v Spurs games are ones to look forward to, both teams always try to play good attacking football and it depends on which Spurs team turns up. To be fair to old 'diamond geezer' Harry he is trying to make you more consistant, but with the constant juggling with Ledley Kings injury it is very difficult to get a settled back four playing with an understanding.
Regarding the 'bitters' , I am not naive enough to think my Utd bias will prevent them from challenging each year. As it stands going forward, the majority of us will have to operate within our earned income which for us is a substantial amount, even including servicing the mountain of debt the Glazers have put us in, but for City, they can continue to rack up massive operating losses with impunity, so they can pay the best wages and in todays world that means they will attract a big percentage of the top players. Those players then still have to be managed properly to forge a team but it is nevertheless a huge advantage. Unless and until the authorities grow a backbone and outlaw using 'sugar daddies' financial clout, we will all be competing at an unfair disadvantage.
Cheers Dakey

Sometimes I think we just forget there is a defensive aspect to the game!! It's certainly a rollercoaster ride with Spurs...can have the sublime and the ridiculious within the space of a minute.
As you say our situation with King doesn't help things much....made significantly worse by the long term injuries to Woodgate and now Dawson (thankfully Kaboul has just come back from injury). I can't really blame Harry as he does have 6 senior centre halfs on the books.
Will be interested to see if Neville lines up against Bale.
Definitely will be a lot of pace on the pitch and I hope both teams go out to attack.

SMV,
Its horses for courses, Fergie put neville in against Stoke as it was always going to be a physical battle and he is always up for the rough and tumble. I think the fact that he was withdrawn early tells you he has not many games left in his locker. Everyone was clamouring for him to be sent off but to me it just highlighted what I have been saying about poor refereeing lately. The first challenge was never in this world a booking as he nipped in front and got the ball cleanly. the 2nd challenge was a yellow card all day long and the ref never gave him one. there is just no logic to these decisions. I think young Raphael will be in against Bale if only for his extra pace, but we will have to wait and see. I have given up trying to second guess Fergies team selections as they dont follow any logical path either.

Dave,
Oh Dear, what is happening at your beloved Eastlands, I have just turned on the sports news this morning ahead of an eagerly anticipated weekend of football with some cracking games scheduled and what is dominating early on? Mancini complaining that his players are all 'pissheads' and are not preparing properly for games because of it.
Could it be that they are ashamed of playing for the club and they are spending their extortionate remuneration on drink to blank it all out? I would be interested in your take on it mate.

Dave,
Now I know you are big and ugly and you eat like a bear, but you are not a bear so you cannot be in hibernation, where are you? I want to hear your views about the goings on down at good old Eastlands, or is it that you are just out partying with the players getting smashed out of your brains.
22 not out and counting for us down at the 'sober' crisis club.
Anyone else got any comments about the weekends action so far?
Cheers dakey

Well Dakey an interesting game to say the least at Old Trafford. Both teams having plenty of chances. Again some woeful defending at the back gifting Man Utd one goal (although nice play by Vidic) and I don't know what to say about the 2nd goal.
Spurs looked very good in the first half with VDV and Modric running the play. But we really needed to put away one of the chances we had. Certainly some positives to take but with the team we have thats not enough anymore...we need to get points from games where we play well.
On the 2nd goal...could have been a penalty...but the certainty is Nani dived on the ball like he was scoring at Twickenham. Gomes should have played to the whistle but how the ref and his assistants didn't see a free kick there is unbelievable. Probably didn't change the outcome but then again Man U have let in a few late goals recently and Spurs have cetainly scored a few.
I was never one to agree with the view big teams get the calls but I wonder if that would have been allowed if it was at the other end (similar to theliverpool freekick/backpass goal which I don't think would have been awarded against them).
Am I right to say that Clattenburg was the one who disallowed the Mendes goal.

Ahem ........ Assume you've all noticed Take That are playing at Eastlands next summer, i've backed em to win 3-1 ..........
Like spuds, we need to be taking our chances as we're prone to conceed. Whilst Manure aren't wiping the floor with anyone, they are sneaking games and using the 'club experience' in winning as an extra man right now and that Nani also seems to be getting his act together, but could still do with losing the histronics, but the dive leader yesterday had to be Asharvin - bet Whinger didn't see it

SMV,
Good game to watch and we got the breaks, there are about ten different views you can take on the second goal and every one of them will have some validity.
I do not go along with the view that referees have no feelings, I am told that Clattenberg was gutted about the second goal and hardly uttered a word to his wife last night during their pre-arranged Dinner and Theatre date with Mr and Mrs Ferguson!
Cheers, Dakey

Will have to beat them 5-0 at the SOL that's all! Andy Carroll may be in jail by then.

What a fabulously entertaining game that was last night between Blackpool and West Brom, I loved every minute of it. Dont blame the ref for spoiling the game, blame the players who made the tackles. West Brom, however, showed everyone that even going down to nine men was not going to stop them having a real go at it and I take my hat off to them. On a different topic, I am working away at the moment but when I get home next week I am going to send some flowers round to Citydaves house, he has obviously passed away and none of us have been informed. He has transcended to that mythical City trophy room in the sky.

Mornin Dakey and Fellas
Been busy with a wedding etc last weekend and gettin ready for trip to Poland. Glad I missed game at Wolves on saturday, believe it was dire. Only saw Nani farce this morning on Sky with Redknapp comments. To say football isn't sporting anymore is a massive understatement. Spurs should refuse Old Trafford fixture, each year different controversy.
Watched goals from Blackpool West Brom. Last man Ibanez? If only all refs dealt with it in the same way the players would know.
Might be a minor blip Dakey ha ha. Not sure we'll catch 8 points back on Chelsea. The papers have plenty of stories stored up every time we drop a point. You'd think there was some animosity out there. Surely not for city!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope your weather turns worse Dakey ha ha xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dave,
I know it has been your dream for City to become both consistent and recognised Europe wide. Well your dream has come to fruition, You are consistently getting beat by small unfancied teams at home and have now extended that to include even smaller unknown teams from far flung corners of the continent. Congratulations!!

Good Morning Dave,
I bet Ji Sung Park will have enjoyed his dog curry last night after his splendid performance yesterday. I have been most impressed with Wolves this last few weeks, the only thing missing from their game is a large slice of good luck, but they cannot keep playing like that and keep losing, even though the manager is an ex Blue so he is a born loser. The fact remains that we have beaten them with a reserve team twice in a week, just after they tonked your best eleven! that shows how far you still have to travel in your journey.
Looking forward to next weeks trip to the council house, one of the few games that you dont have to call a fire muster from Asda next door to fill the ground. should be a great occasion.
Cheers Dakey
