Cameron's collegues are turning on him big style, his TV interview yesterday was a disaster, a woman in the audience all but destroyed what little integrity he still has, everyone was laughing at him when he was questioned as to when WW111 would commence. The polls now have Brexit supporters in a narrow lead and are accused of whinging by the very scared inners, who surely have exhausted their supply of scare stories.

Handing over to a govt to which has a majority of mps who want to stay in makes even less sense

Do you know how many conservatives are following the Cameron line for career reasons? It is easy to spot one  government minister and potential leader in this category and there are many many more. A large group of non or ex minister rank like my own MP are just keeping thier heads below the parapet and saying little. I would love to know how they fill in the voting slip on the 23rd.

Cameron is a wily bugger, he became leader by appearing to be an exiter. He promised the electorate all sorts, including the referendom we never had in the last government in order to get elected. I do not take to him, he does not represent the middle strata of the electorate because he does not understand them. I dislike the handle, but he is a 'toff'. But despite all this I suspect he is capable of running rings around a lot of the EU functionaries if hard negociating for the UK does become neccessary. He has promised to go before the next election. I suspect he cherishes the handle 'sucessful prime minister' and will do his best to obtain it whether we vote in or out.

Mickyfinn has made an absolute fool of himself wasting all that energy on his One man campaign

Im a fool now and 'writing crocks of shit'.

I stand up and be counted for something I believe in. You can abuse me all you like it will make absolutely no difference to me. If Britain leaves the rest of Europe will manage quite well.

The European Union is something worth fighting for.  If Britain leaves I will continue to enjoy living in a Union of countries that share common ideals and values. I am starting to believe Europe will be better off without the grumbling Brits. Perhaps General De Gaulle was right after all.

A little poorer perhaps but there is nothing Britain makes that cannot be bought elsewhere. There is nothing Europe makes that can't be sold elsewhere. The damage that will be done to the UK prestige around the world will be imeasurable.

In the end if it's the peoples choice I can respect that because I'm a democrat who can tolerate an opposite view without resorting to personal abuse.

tteed

I can only guess that many tory MP's are following because they beleive an exit is unlikley and DC's job is on the line either way

the split in the tory party was about 55% IN with the total of MP's (across all parties is 76% IN)

so if whatever the vote the in/out spilt in the current govt is a disaster and could force an early GE as feelings have run pretty high amongst the tories and will be their downfall

Making sense has nothing to do with it.   That result it is the only guarantee. The British people will decide and the existing government will have to  do their jobs as required by the electorate, or call a new election.

How many of the electorate ever make the effort to chat with their MP after they have been elected to tell them, either they are  doing a good job or otherwise ?

Reality:  Hardly anyone has ever spoken to their MP.  If we don't tell them we are dissatisfied then how can you blame them for not doing what you would like ?

It was me Micky ( Baz) that said 'Crock of Crap' not someone else, better you not blame them for that one as well.

Maybe...Just maybe the government is crapping its self because it has now realised, even though we are not out yet, that the people of Great Britain are not the fools they take everyone for, maybe they have just found out that talking rubbish hasn't fooled them after all, maybe someone in the 'IN' power has suddenly woken up due to the 'OUT' power gaining support.....

Whats the saying go like...'You can fool some of the people some of the time'....And so on.

Hugh. That's "Bungle" - most people call him Bungle Bear...he's about as big as a bear! Trained guard dog but first owners mistreated him and my daughter (lawyer) went in and legally rescued him. She said, I'm taking that dog or I'm calling Immigration, Customs & Excise and the RSPCA to boot! Then she delivered him to our farm covered in his own excrement, several infections, chunk of his tongue missing from when they "controlled him" with cattle prod...he's bloody fantastic now.

I agree but mps are often very difficult to contact in reality and worse getting a reply or action but people also don't speak to other representatives such as councillors

They all do as they wish once they have your vote

Many manifestos and pledges have been broken and will continue but the exit vote has nothing to promise pledge and the decisions of what the uk will do if the uk exits will be made by those or at least the majority who wanted to stay and they will make decisions based on what they belive in etc

Today's Guardian. Great au contraire.

My English friends, as it’s only you who are tempted by Brexit, don’t be won over by the arguments of the remain campaigners. Vote leave on 23 June!

I’ll be honest – it’s not really in your interest to leave the EU. It’s obvious that Brexit campaigners are lying to you in claiming that, alone, you’ll do better in a world that’s already dominated by the US, Asia and, soon, Africa. The Europe that they vilify is largely in your hands ideologically – it already governs 28 nations in your own language.

But I digress. I’m defending the EU’s point of view, and it’s in its interest that you leave. If you stay, you will ruin our lives: David Cameron will become the only European leader capable of winning a referendum on Europe, and will therefore gain a central role in the EU. He and his successors will then negotiate concession after concession in order to completely bury the federal dream of the fathers of Europe and transform the continent into a free market zone with less and less backbone.

Any hope of a European resurgence will be also be buried. The EU is already dying, despite the wish of European governments to extend its remit. Across the continent, the scene is dominated by nationalists who have hijacked the debate and sometimes power itself, such as in eastern Europe. European values have been blown to smithereens, as evident in the curbing of the right to asylum. And ruling parties think that an election can only result in victory for Eurosceptic groups (though the Austrian presidential election proved the opposite).

The fear of an immediate politically and economically costly collapse of the EU will disappear following a remain vote. Sure, my English friends, you staying in the EU will avoid an immediate crisis. But longer term it will drag the European project down towards its final disintegration. Europe, which aspired to global significance in a world where the west’s importance is diminishing, will become nothing more than a failed project. Only your departure will allow Europe to bounce back.
