'Eye on Spain - Uniting expats in Spain'
Perhaps a codicil saying something like this should be added:-
'Dependent on their stance on the UK's Brexit referendum decision'
😉

Briando, it also stated "we will certainly have to see infrastructure money as well going in to help make these places successful."
So the assumption being presumably that private money will have to accompany this initiative, but then the question arises what is deemed "affordable",.... have homes for first time buyers been ring fenced into the housing ratios to address their difficulties to get a step onto the housing ladder, and have plans been put in place to control absent landlords and second home owners taking an unfair share of the new housing stock?

The BREXIT countdown has started for the UK to leave the EU union ,apparently we have 2 years to get out this will be a impossible task to achieve within the 2 year time scale ,as the EU union has to come to agreement with the remaining 27 members ,all these members have to agree 100% and as it took the EU 14 years to come to a small trade agreement with Canada it certainly look's like to this uneducated/illiterate/bigoted poster that we are going to be stuck to the EU for many .......many years to come ,all the opposition MPs have known this since the referendum so why they keep on having a go at the UK government over lack of direction beat's me basically what the referendum has highlighted is what a bloody mess the EU is in ,any institution that fails to modernise and not listen to the concerns of it's membership is doomed ,a lot of things that have been hidden from the EU public are going to be highlighted over the coming year's which will will lead to the demise of whole of the EU union.

Yes Ads.
I think the affordable determination is set through discussion with each local council (although new towns will presumably be different?).
The houses should be kept from buy to let's in my opinion, the affordable housing definitely is.
Its my own opinion that RTB money will be used to support the builders with infrastructure and some grants, which results in the private market being increased in stock and value and the builders and investors being rewarded financially for their efforts.
The affordable housing will be part of shared ownership or similar supported schemes (targeted ISA,s etc).
This means the social housing stock will be diminished and the expectation people will become home owners instead of renters. This is the flagship and resonates from Mrs T (and yes you guessed it the seen as blameless Mr Tebbit).
It will create housing as it did before, and in time the government will be able to say, we built more houses, we have more people in home ownership.
There will be more poor housing stock created and more people in the lesser paid employment bracket, and on the benefit treadmill, without housing, going forward. So only time before the new houses are sold for buy to let's. The cycle continues. What a rubbish policy.

Some rural 'affordable' property has a clause stating that it can only be purchased by people who have lived/worked in the area for three years or have family commitments/an essential job offer etc; on no account can they be used as second homes/holiday lets or buy to lets.

That’s a complete new one on me, does it apply to all Spain or just certain regions. Will this actually be affected by BREXIT.

what is affordable housing has got to do with the Brexit ,am I missing something the way I see the housing shortage problem coming to a end is to put a stop to uncontrolled mass migration and you will put a stop to the shortage or is that solution to easy to grasp for some.

Let the mods decide potblack, certain members were discussing affordable housing in the U.K. that is clearly a Brexit issue. I'm not the only one to stray but I'm the only one on your stalking list, have I offended you in another life? 🤔

Sorry Destry it was not meant personal. This thread seems to have long since got out of control by a limited number of members abusing it for their own satisfaction of having a childish argument about anything whether or not BREXIT or Spain related. Perhaps the Mods are fearful of ending this tread because certain members are now suffering CPD ‘’compulsive posting disorder’’ and would move their illness to disrupt other innocent threads.

I wondered if the 'Legitimate Expectations Doctrine' could be invoked in law if the UK government decide to freeze state pension payments paid to U.K. nationals who have moved to another EU state as and when the UK ceases to be a member. This wouldn't set a precident in respect of U.K. nationals who's state pensions are already frozen as they were aware of this when they decided to leave the UK for one of the countries where pension increases are not paid.
People who moved to say Spain, and were aware that the EU rules guaranteed them the same pension increases as enjoyed by their UK counterparts, surely have a claim under this legally recognised doctrine.

The UK's ambassador to the EU, Sir Ivan Rogers, has resigned.
The person most qualified to understand and lead Brexit has basically quit becasue he was tired of the response of Brexiters who think they know better than he about how to deal with the EU.
This is a serious body blow to Brexit...

Nope. Just wanted all you DayDream B*Leavers to give us more words of wisdom. Basically the more you guys say the more the tide goes against you. I figure that if I can get you really hot under the collar the more you will blow your own chances of any sort of Brexit.
Labour says they will not stand in the way of the government if they want to call an early election. Theresa May is quietly weighing up the chances of Brexit being successful (looking weak currently) vs letting the country have a new vote on leaving the EU via a General Election as early as this year.
