Elsie Any Tom, Dick or Harry, resident, tourist, illegal or from planet Mars gets free NHS healthcare, no questions, no passport, no EHIC, no nothing. Re health tourist excursions from Africa.
Sorry but from the info here:
Elsie. Sorry but from the info herehttp://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/AboutNHSservices/uk-visitors/visiting-england/Pages/visitors-from-the-eea.aspx
It would appear you may be wrong.
Of course if the people who deal with the person presenting themselves for treatment fails to follow the rules set out in the system, it is that person who is at fault, not the system.
Elsie No one seems to know why.
Not so:
There are exception from the rules regarding the requirement to pay and those are explained (follow the links from the above web page).

Most people now want to remain in the European Union in parts of the UK that voted overwhelmingly for Brexit according to opinion surveys by several different local newspapers.
The Wolverhampton-based Express and Star newspaper became the fourth outlet to publish results showing a complete U-turn in public opinion on Saturday, with 60 per cent of respondents saying they would now vote to stay in the EU.
Three other regional publications in the north east and the West Midlands recorded similar findings.
Earlier in December the Newcastle Chronicle declared “the North East now wants to stay in Europe” because 1,114 of 1,500 respondents said they would now vote remain.
Nationwide "regrexit" was reported soon after the referendum results were announced, with many people saying they did not expect Leave to win and had filed a protest vote to exit the union without properly thinking through the consequences.

Yes, of course they did. Especially with all the positives coming from the EU SSR. Anyone would be mad to vote to leave such a democratic club where all the people are listened to, and everything is done in their best interests.... I thought it was Christmas day not April 1st...

That confirms what I have known for many years i.e. the vast majority of voters in UK (and probably everywhere) are too stupid to understand basic facts and should not be allowed to vote.
Voting, which determines the future of millions is much more important than say driving a car, but who would allow a person with no knowledge of driving to do so ?

..........,instead the migrants that know how to play the system send this money back to their country of origin and this money is spent in the home country and not in the UK
I know many UK citizens who work in UK pay taxes get in work benefits etc. and they have families that live in Spain (or other countries) many commute weekly, fortnighlty or 2 weeks on 2 weeks of etc. They send this money to their famileis in the same way i.e. not sepnding it in the UK but in another country
I would guess also that as these workers working in the UK they will also be entiltled to a UK state pension and will send that home or even return howm and have their UK pensions sent to them - again not unlike many expat pensioners
and guess what their families ae not a burden on the NHS the UK infrastructure etc
Since when did the govt (or anyone) have the right to dictate where peopel spendtheir benefit money?
IMO these are the typical selective and prejudicial comments that brexit is based on

So we have a forum member who thinks that citizens should have professional voting qualifications before being allowed to cast their vote, this bigoted theory has been repeated by this member many times, I surmise that he considers himself to be qualified to make such a sweeping statement.
"The test of a first-rate intelligence is to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function". (F. Scott Fitzgerald)
The member clearly does not have this ability.

The history of Europe in the last 100 years is littered with popular political decisions which led to catastrophe. The development of democracy has long proved it is parliamentary decision making that makes for a more stable society.
Referendums are basically mob rule and an opportunity to kick the establishment in the back side. Brexit was a classic example of that and voter’s remorse is way too late. The real fault line was the flawed manipulative decision made by Cameron to hold the vote to see off UKIP and win the last election for his party.
Brexit I am sure will historically be recorded as the beginning of the decline of the United Kingdom both as a regional power and an economic force in the world. It saddens me enormously. Try as they may the British are going to find it very difficult to replicate its past prosperity without close trading and political ties to Europe.
I believe Europe will grow stronger together and recover from the economic malaise of the past decade. How could it not as the largest single market on the planet of 500 million people. The British will look on enviously at what they could have been part of had they not held the prejudices they do.
Short term opportunist populist politicians will be long forgotten and held in the contempt they deserve. As the pendulum swings back to liberalism and freedoms and the fear of terrorist violence subsides.
Happy Christmas to one and all.

Hello johnzx
NHS. What you say is correct and I have viewed the link. But is this information just a political get out clause ‘’don’t blame the government, blame NHS staff’’. It all depends on what opinion you form. The media rightly or wrongly say there are no facilities or procedure to vet anyone asking for free NHS treatment, and if a foreigner actually produces a passport and EHIC NHS staff would in many cases not have a clue what to do.
The question still remains why. It seems nobody knows or cares.

I agree with John about voters. Who in their right mind would vote to stay in such a dysfunctional club as the EU SSR? They clearly need some education on democracy, the rights of citizens etc before being allowed to cast a vote.

some could use johnzx's logic (which is an insult to many) for the exit voter
Clearly many simply don't understand how democratic the EU is and how it works
Maybe you shoud direct your comment to your MEP to give him/her an eductaion on your views of democracy

No they couldn't
The Brexiteers know exactly what we were voting for.
We know how democratic the EU isn't.
Replace the word democracy for dictatorship when talking about the EU SSR and you have it spot on.
