With due respect you don't appear to have grasped my points with regard to a more level playing field in terms of analysis of country debt and impact from measures required to address debt ( in a timely manner), the need for tailored benefits for those on low incomes to be incentivised back into work, the wage differentials between member states, the need to limit uptake of benefits given background analysis of member states ( high/low unemployment levels, country debt, benefit levels etc).
It could just as easily argued that in work benfits are "propping up" UK busineses and giving them an unfair advantage in the markets at the UK tax payers expense
Who gets teh profits not the worker or the govt but the shreholders
yes the UK has expesnive areas for rent etc but is it right the tax payer shoudl fund this
yes teh UK has jobs so people come to work and get teh SAME as a UK citizen which is right anything else that favours UK citioznes is wrong - but lets not go there again
If teh UK reforms are to continue "propping up" businesses with sunsdides then that is teh UK's decicosn and not teh EU's but don't blame teh EU
I hope the UK does reform the benefits system and crack down big tiem it is long overdue but again do not blame the EU the savings coudl be used to improve the NHS eductaion and thso who REALLY need help.
If people can work then get a job in fact get 2 or 3 there is plenty of work out there

I'm not in your league where polite etiquette is concerned, you obviously consider children's playground manners of turning their backs on what they do not agree with to be adult behaviour, how sad. 😢
No Destry it's you that does not understand the subtle point the politicians were trying to make to the media cameras. Britain alone without friends. It was a very powerful message. It's Britains future, a self inflicted wound caused by deluded politicians with names to make for themselves.

I'm just the messenger Destry. The incident at the summit is just the beginning. The UK is sadly turning its back on the EU and its member states.
It’s always the same in divorce relationships and cooperation deteriorate.

Mickyfinn from what I and many others have seen on TV and the likes ,it is the EU that is turning it's back on the UK this is big mistake by the EU especially when you take in to consideration that the UK currently imports twice as much from the EU than it exports to EUROPE .The EU should tread carefully as the UK has many allies from outside the EU closed shop, that are falling over them selves to secure trade deals with the UK ,the EU do not like the idea that the UK will be a free to do it's own unrestricted import/export trade deal's.in 2 years time .no Armageddon/no Stock market crash/we are booming hear in the UK . From what I can see most of the Remoners on this forum would not know this as they have not lived in the UK for many years.so you should accept the Democratic out come and for your sake get on with what's left of your life otherwise you wiil make yourself sick Brexit is what it is and all the citizen Smith's under the sun will not stop it.from a personal point of view from this illiterate member that will not be posting on the Brexit thread again as I am sick of the word Brexit you just don't hear the word Brexit spoken where I come in the UK thank god .4,470 Post's on this thread repeating the same crap.

The UK wil continue import these goods and pay the duty yes the UK coudldgo elsehwere but the duty will still have to be paid. If the UK stops importing form EU ststed then they wil stop buying another hit!!!!
Really that many allies falling over themselves - love to know who and what trade deals and if they will be tariff free

Thank you windtalker and a sad adieu.
I have enjoyed some of your postings, a real authentic English voice. For me that's really why I continue on here. Trying to establish firmly in my mind the reasons why the British have risked so much damage to themselves.
Historically in Britain there is no precedent for Brexit. Britain was always known throughout the world as a land of common sense, tolerance and fair play.
Times and people change. I sensed it a long time ago and moved to Europe where I found and still believe I can live out my days in peace and that same tolerance of difference.
The river now is sadly moving ever closer toward my lands and it’s not just the rain.

Historically in Britain there is no precedent for Brexit. Britain was always known throughout the world as a land of common sense, tolerance and fair play.
I decided to give the compliments of the season and retire for a while, but I cannot let you get away with that.
Of course there is precedent. Britain had always moved towards democracy, freedom and fair play until 1972 when our leaders lost confidence in our nation and sold our heritage for a pottage of trade that proved to be worse than a mirage. It is our tolerance that allowed us to put up with this state of affairs for far too long. We are moving back in the direction we have taken for centuries.
We joined an organisation that clearly did not believe in commonsense, tolerance and fair play. When given the chance on June the 23rd we chose to put this right and voted for freedom and democracy.
The future looks bright despite the gloom and doom on this board. Our hand for the negotiations is good and there is every expectation that the EU will decide in its own economic interest.
According to the polls, 68% now support Brexit and many figures previously for remain are now looking towards our independent and democratic future.

The UK is the world’s sixth largest importer of electricity despite being eleventh in terms of electricity production and twenty-second in terms of population.
Our electricity industry is largely owned by European companies Our energy industry is so tightly tied to the EU that it is nearly impossible to figure out how to untangle it. Without electricity from the EU we will be faced with brown outs and blackouts. Without EU protection we will have no rights to electricity produced in the EU. It will be provided on the basis of who will pay the highest price. The opportunity of Brexit is to become self sufficient in electrical production. The time frame to do this will take up to 20 years and add to our environmental costs.
We currently import 6% net of our electricity used from the EU. There are no immediate substitutes. You can't run an extension lead under the Atlantic. As aging power station go offline the problem will increase and become a national crisis in the early 2020s.
The UK government has not even figured out to untangle, present or negotiate a new deal for energy trading post Brexit. My solution is that until we can get external investors to anti up to build in the UK we should reduce availability to those who voted for Brexit by the proportion of the population that was eligible to vote in Brexit After all why should I have to reduce my use or pay higher costs. Those that want control should pay the costs.
Good luck to all you Brexiteers with that turkey cooked over a can of sterno.
This is just one of 57 areas where we are going to be at a disadvantage and currently have zero ideas on how to fix it in a period of ten years or less. Oh and don't think that the EU based companies that own our power generation in the UK are going to jump up and start a building programme in the UK Their current business model is very dependant on the free movement of trained personnel from the continent to the UK to keep the lights on currently.
Look for electricity prices to rise and rise and rise and for pollution to get worse just before the lights go out. Don't think so? Have a look at what happened in California.

a good point and another of the many examples that were not even thought about
but don't worry the Chinese will build more nuclear power plants and protect the UK from the nasty EU

Many of the EU based companies have been coming under criticism due to their high prices and failure to be competitive..... Martin Lewis , a consumer champion has been doing a great job to ensure that UK consumers switch their energy suppliers ( which is easy via his collective switches ) and the likes of British Gas. Sainsbury's energy, Ovo, SSE, and the like are starting to make their mark in the UK market place. It's great to see how consumer champions such as Martin can educate the general public and create a far more competitive market, where consumers can rightly use their mass buying power to influence change.

Theresa May’s promises on food labelling are straight outta Pyongyang
In a speech at the Conservative party conference, May promised that Britain would now control how it labels. But these rules have nothing to do with the EU. They come from a general code at the WTO. For May to deliver on this promise, she would have to adopt the North Korean model of total isolation. She either didn’t know what she was saying was nonsense, or didn’t care.
But of course we are Brits and can achieve anything...blah blah blah
