That main reasons why the Lib Dems and Labour party are losing so many many seats can be put down to being pig headed and ignorance to the facts that are dominant in UK.....Facts like uncontrolled mass migration from the EU /Overloaded NHS/Education system/DSS/Council House's and the likes can all be put down to uncontrollable migration from the EU putting a massive strain on public services the UK and any political party that does not accept these facts is doomed to failure .some will argue that emigration is good and the majority of the UK will agree ...but only if emigration is controlled... if emigration is is not brought under control and left to run wild in the EU  the remaining Countries that are left in the EU Bloc will have to leave or introduce controlled migration.

Totally agree Windtalker.

Their answer to all these issues (and the opinion of some people on here) seems to be throw more money into NHS/Education system/DSS/Council House's but they don't seem to care that the money comes from us, and we are not willing to pay for it, especially as most of the people coming here haven't paid a penny into our system all their lives, and at the same time we are having to wait longer for our pensions, which in my case I have paid into for the last 43 years.

A question to all the Pro EU Bloc Remoners . how many Schools/Hospitals/Council House's would you like the UK Tax payer to fund ...the Lib Dems and the Labour Party are Pro EU and yet when in government have closed many Schools and Hospitals and made massive cuts to public services across the UK and yet both party's want to keep open borders and uncontrolled migration from the EU .how is this going to work surely you need more School's more Hospitals more Council Houses and a massive expansion of public services to accommodate the mass uncontrollable migration from the EU .instead what we get from the likes of the Labour party is statements from it's leadership like Let's bring down the Tories .( and do what ).

An answer to windtalker.  Their is no point having a discussion with someone who does not understand the difference between immigration and emigration.

perry and bigal I don't have a clue what you are talking about ...all I know is that if you live in another country you will always be classed as a immigrant that emigrated from the UK.

Agreed Al, my typing error.  Equally there is no point arguing with someone who does not understand the correct use of a colon.

The deal is done, the trigger has been pulled. Time to put the sour grapes away and for everyone to work as one to make the Brexit procedure a sucess.

Apparently we are going to introduce an income tax rate of 120% for the filthy rich to pay for it all.

Schools, hospitals, you name it.

Or alternatively we could raise corporation tax on those ultra wealthy mega corporates who already pay their tax in Luxembourg rather than the UK.

What is a 10% tax increase on nothing?

Its a win win for all , not.

These are just some of the inequalities in terms of citizenship rights that exist between the UK and Spain, let alone the other member states.

"Spaniards in Britain have the option to apply for UK citizenship after five years of residence, and joint nationality is available, but the situation for Brits in Spain may be very different.

Firstly, Spain only offers joint nationality to citizens of its former colonies, who can apply for dual or full citizenship after two years of residence, whilst everyone else has to prove 10 years of continuously living in the country.

Additionally, many Europeans in Spain – particularly pensioners and those living in 'expat belts' – speak little or no Spanish, which would preclude them from applying.

In practice, citizenship requirements are not very demanding – a multiple-choice quiz on aspects of legal, cultural, geographical and political life, and a test to prove Spanish language ability of level A2, equivalent to a good GCSE grade, are the only requisites besides not having a criminal record.

This is not impossible to study for from scratch in two years, and many town councils offer free Spanish classes.

But not everyone wants to apply for British or Spanish citizenship respectively, and many fear that doing so could cause problems for them if they need to spend an extended period in their native country, such as for caring for a family member."

So many questions remain, such as reviewing the options for dual citizenship where fair appropriate and applicable, greater monitoring and effective regulation correctly identifying place of main residence and tightening of controls to counter tax avoidance (to counter abusive practice from both sides of the channel), option to review the benefit differentials between member states i.e. inequalities that act as irregular "pull factors" to be adequately and fairly re-assessed,...

Presumably this is the OPPORTUNITY to review and develop a whole host of options leading to more effective control mechanisms, so as to attain greater flexibility than currently exists, to respond to the skill needs of the country and more importantly better forward plan and take back control for realistic sustainability of all aspects relating to inward movements of people, retraining of nationals, etc whilst countering abusive practices which lead to downward spirals of income and workers rights (given the realities that have arisen as a consequence of swift irregular patterns of migration), fair contribution of tax and receipt of benefits, health insurance where appropriate and fair, pension contributions and assessed rights for index-linking of pensions, etc.....

What better time than now to reassess and counter abusive practice from whatever quarter it may arise, to review and better deal with differentials, to better plan for the future, but equally attain a fair system that recognises and balances citizen rights with realistic financial commitments/obligations/contributions to the member state where citizens reside?

I have a question....

If the following is correct

"A response will follow from the EU and will include negotiating guidelines that will be confirmed at an EU Summit at the end of April. Negotiations look set to start in earnest in May, but may be delayed by the impending elections in May in France and September in Germany. The current aim is to complete negotiations by October 2018, with a formal vote in the Houses of Parliament, European Council and European Parliament to follow by March 2019 prior to formal withdrawal from the EU."

will the UK be compromised by delays attributable to French and German elections (delays beyond their control)?

I wonder if the UK therefore will have the option, if required, to factor in these delays into the final deadline?

The process has started but no deal done

There may be an extension to the 2 years if both sides agree but it will also require the approval of all 27 member states

The negotiations will be completed inside 2 years, any other will mKe the EU look amateur.

The amount of money we will owe (as Junkers descibed it) will be scientific.   Now we are getting further information about this there are many assets we partly own in the EU which need to be realised, and either valued and taken from our commitments, or given to us with ownership (which will be very messy).

Trading arrangements formed part of the early common market, so may be easier to negotiate going forward

So each bit of the story comes forward as we go on.   I can fully understand the need to keep the negotiations in a confidential manner, I see our press and TV carving up one word from a statement in the silliest means possible, just to sell print or air space.

It will make both sides look amateur if they fail to complete the negotiations inside 2 years

Yes true, but we dont seem to be coming up with any reason not to.  We have refused a second referendum to the scottish parliament because it may interfere.

There is no article 50 clause that has been reported that says 2 years unless we have other elections (27 member states), crickey they may as well say 10 years if they are to hold procedures up.

I know in my own mind who run the risk of looking amateur, and its the ones that dont produce accounts and say no discussion without a letter (only to find out their answers are now structured around discussions they have been having with other members while we are still members)

At the risk of being forum edited, they dont only look like amatuers, they look like bl**dy dishonest amateurs.

Only because it is written in the constitution of parliament and it's both opportunistic and devisive at this time.

Apsrt from that, I've no idea.
